I have been using a 6.5-'06 for some years now (graduated from a M94 6.5X55 carbine), and maybe you should just go for a .264 Win Mag. You can definitely get your velocity numbers with the 140 gr bullets then, and you will almost certainly get a 9" twist barrel. The Euro standard is 7.87" with a...
I had a Tikka 595 in .308, now owned by a friend. They shoot really well, and used barrels from the Sako production line. 595 was short action, 695 standard length. Both were magazine fed, and used a delrin bushing around the bolt, which made for really smooth bolt travel. The had features to...
It is pretty hard to fault Leupold's scopes, and you are not going to go wrong using them. Although I think the Pentax Lightseeker line may give more bang for your buck on the "looking" side, I haven't tested their repair logistics. I know Leupold's is great.

I have had both. I think the Trijicon AccuPoints are good scopes, I have used the 3-9X and the 1.25-4X. They are easier to use than any battery powered illuminated scope, and the glass here is equivalent. In my opinion the Leupold 1.5-5 does just as well without the extra stuff, so why pay for...
D'Arcy Echols is probably the best known custom builder of M70 bases rifles, and he takes what some think is already a good action and makes something like 80 separate modifications to the action before he is satisfied and uses it in a rifle.
The Howa is an excellent modern action, and...
Back in the day when we were shooting the tang-safety Ruger M77 there was a common procedure for helping the trigger pull involving cutting a coil off the trigger spring. I expect you may find it on the Internet with a search.
I remember reading it in a Rifle magazine as well.

Nick,
That is a very nice looking rig, and the Swarovski scope does not hurt either!
What loads are you shooting, and what do the groups look like?...thanks...jim
And welcome to the List!
Somewhere I have a plastic gadget that has a flat section that sits in the bolt raceways with a part bent 90 degrees that has a vertical line scribed. To use it you line up the scope's vertical crosswire with the gauge line.
After using it a few times I noticed I could eye-ball it by leaving...
My Ruger No.1B in 6mm Rem is a shooter, and it likes MRP (same burning rate as RL22). The barrel is 26".
48.0 gr MRP gives 3,231 fps MV and .714" group with 100 gr Noslers (solid base or Partition).

Thanks for the link.
The only thing I have used a solid on was a hippo (from a .375 H&H), but you do need them for ele as well and back up on buff. I will have to try the 260 gr and the 300 gr .375" versions in my .375 Ruger and see what it likes.

Steyr-Mannlicher is chambering the .375 Ruger, I handled one at SHOT this year. Even with their .376 Steyr (which has not been promoted or sold well).
I think the point is to spread the capabilities of the rifle, and the .375 Ruger permits hunting dangerous game and fits in a standard length...
Owen,
I have two friends who own ranches in 41. In '06 I did a ML hunt with one at his place near Bull Creek. Last year I hunted lower down in the 3rd season pretty close to Mesa.
Powerstroke,
No, it was 41 -- and I am still learning how to hunt the sides of the Mesa.
