Thanks, Charlie! This unit just cuts out the Pueblos from the main unit. I was surprised how big it was actually, it even takes in Beatys Butte itself. Got some great maps from the BLM in Springfield today. They beat the old blue line maps I've been using for years for antelope out there.
Thanks so much guys...I'm still reeling. In Oregon you can't build points for Bighorns and Mt. Goats, but you're allowed to shoot any ram.
I'm currently leaning towards my Browning A-Bolt in a .300 WSM shooting 180 grain TSXs over 70.0 grains of IMR 7828ssc. It was the hammer of Thor on my...
Just drew a Bighorn Sheep tag for Oregon's Coleman/East Guano unit! I'm still bumbling around and not making much sense. Anyone on this forum who has had that tag and willing to chat about locations to focus on? I'll be taking the family down for a weeks' worth of scouting around the 4th of...
I'm still trying to determine what happened with the bullet myself...
My hunting partner and I were hunting a new area to us. Hiked in a few miles right at dawn, and broke out of the timbered trail into this great looking bear country. We had glassed a few drainages from some high points...
Thought I'd share a few pictures of our Memorial Day bear hunt in NE Oregon. We had a great time in the mountains, and saw 5 bears - 1 large chocolate boar, this blonde sow, and another large black sow with two black cubs.
Shot this bear at 356 yards, with a Browning A-Bolt chambered in .300...
Looking for any pet loads you guys might have for the .300 WSM using 165 Grain Partitions or Accubonds. I'm shooting a Browning A-Bolt. Thanks for your suggestions in advance.
My hunting partner and I drew spring bear tags here in Oregon for the Minam/Imnaha Unit in the far NE corner of the state. We're planning to hunt the Imnaha Unit which is known for a high percentage of blonde and cinnamon color-phase bears.
Oregon has a mentored youth program, where kids...

Thanks guys! Cloverleaf, the slings are made by Safari Slings, and my buddies purchased them at Fisherman's Marine, in Portland, OR. Looks like you can also get them at Cabela's and Midway USA. They allow you to pull up your rifle while still wearing the sling. The guys seem to like them...
Highs in the upper 60's and crunchy snow up high made for a tough elk hunt this year. However, our group was able to harvest a 4X4 and 6X6, during Oregon's 1st season Rocky Mountain Elk hunt.
I shot this bull on the third day of the five day hunt, at almost 3,000 feet lower than the...
Great looking country and stags! Would love to have the opportunity to hunt Scotland sometime, and of course visit some of the local Scotch distilleries. Thanks for sharing.
Just returned from our annual 2013 Oregon Blacktail hunt. This year was tougher than most, incredible wind and rain seemed to have pushed these migrating deer lower than we normally hunt. Ended up shooting this forked horn on opening morning, at 60 yards, with a Browning BAR in .30-06...it was...
Thanks for the help guys. Headed to the range today with three Barnes TSX loads, and two Nosler Partition loads. Three of the five shot under an inch...with only 4 shots of Winchester Power Points down the barrel and no break-in, I think this is going to be a great shooter!
Settling on:
