I never flinched from humping an M60.... once ya figured it out... sucker was a fantastic force multiplier.
Was sad to see it replaced by the M240 series LMG, but it was getting old.
Did a live fire exercise one night..... had 500 rds belted together... You could light a cigarette on the flash...
Having shot NRA High Power Rifle Silhouette, I determined that accuracy depended on 2 things. Shot #1 and Shot #5.
The string of fire was 5 rds in 2.5 minutes. Hardly enough time for a barrel to cool. Plus you took a 2.5 minute break then fired another string of 5. And if it was a 60 rd...
Yeppers.....
I usually have friends coming in from Arkansas, Kansas and Texas for the show. Only the Kansas folks can make it this November.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes..... 4000+ tables under a single 11 acre roof takes some walking.
I also have a Remington-Rand 1911A1.... but they made typewriters...... The Singer Sewing Machine Company made a limited number of 1911A1's.... last one I saw have a $15K price tag on it.... and it was in about half the condition of my R-R.
No... the chamber is smooth..... it cleaned up quickly with a 50 cal BP mop. It just had alot of gunk in it after the 4th round.
Just an abstract thought here..... maybe the low is low enough that the case is not fully expanding, thus sealing the chamber. But I have no memory of any level...
I still haven't gotten a new Chrony..... need one.
But I'll wait till I get a load settled in...then chrony that load. but so far, this one seems right.
Next test load will be at 43.3 grains since this is the load we use in our X-Frame Smith.

I had one of these in the Mid-70's. It was extremely accurate all the way out to 500 yards.
One aspect of the acccuracy was pointed out to me by our Battalion's Armorer. On the barrel, between the legs of the front sight was an S inside...
We knocked off early from work today and I hustled out to the range with the H&R.
Shooter next to me nearly jumped off the bench when I busted the first cap. He thought it was maybe a 243 and did not notice the loaded rounds laying on the table.
Anyhoo.... it took a bit but looks like we be...
Little Johnny machine gunned a bus load of nuns. His defense attorney claimed his client was not at fault because the night before the prom queen refused to dance with him.
Ignore the fact he has runny, puss sores all over his face. Ignore the fact he has not brushed his teeth in 10 years...
One thing I have learned over ther years is that carrying a handgun is not empowering. The act of carrying places a heavy weight of responsibility upon the individual carrying.
A handgun is simply a tool. Yes, it can be a work of art. Beautiful in form and function. But once placed into...
As an old timer once told me.....it is better too loose the shoulder meat and drop the animal where it stands then loose the entire animal because the shot was not up too par.
Right now I'd have to say the 500 S&W, only because I'm playing with one.
Now if the weather and Wife will give me some breathing room, I'll get on the range for zeroing and grouping tests.
General grade officers are not, by normal standards, subjected to the risk of combat like a LtColonel or below, therefore they really have no need to be armed.
And very few General's have been caught dead.... they tend to survive.
Anyway..... that was the purpose fo the Colt Government 380...
