I had wondered about meat damage and in all the posts around the web I searched out, very few said a word about such with this bullet.
Previous experience with higher velocity, lighter bullets pointed towards more meat damage and was one of the reasons I was not planning on using them on...
Thank you for that, Guy. In some areas I hunt I could do so.
In one in particular it wouldn't be useful. Deer come across an 800 acre picked cornfield.....literally anywhere.
It's been disced down to pieces/parts, not a rock in sight.
I'm sitting in the middle of it. SOME coming along a...
99 percent of the time I'm planning on using 140 grain Core lokt and Partitions along with 154 grain Hornady bullets in both spire point and round nose
But......
For longer ranges I've some 120gr ballistic tips loaded to 3100 plus or so in my 7x57.
I've read much on how tough this bullet is...
I'm in agreement. While not "needed" it does entice me, but RL-17 does as well (2799) without going considerably over fill percentage.
Wondering what the fill percentage of RL-26 would be with a longer OAL to compare is all.
Going from 17 to 26 didnt look like much of a gain, at least not...
A bit ignorant on loads over "100 percent load ratio" so playing the Devil's Advocate here to learn a bit if I may.
Is it even POSSIBLE to get some of these in the case, especially maintaining a 3.071" OAL?
I didn't check the length of a Sierra 160 SBTHP but (of my interest) the Nosler 160gr...
Interesting and of interest to me personally.
A different mfg and powder but I found some IMR4064 that was stashed back in a box of books (no clue why) that I've been moving around for DECADES.
Looks ok, no clumps or discoloration. Smells just like a newer can. Planning on loading some...
I've been looking at several models of Leupold scopes to put on my new-to-me Rem 700 Classic in 7x57 and while "I've never needed one before" both the firedot and CDS options sounded like something I might be willing to save up for and spoil myself a little.
For a bit I looked at the...
I did find this in the wee hours of the morning though.
For a 'one powder for all weights' it holds promise.

Just picked up the first of Remington's (of the limited edition anyway) "Classics" in 7mm Mauser.
I'm aware most 7x57 data is anemic (low pressure) and have list after list saved on what guys use "stepping on" loads for it.
My shots on deer here in the cornfields of Indiana are only going to...
Like the rest of the Legacy Sport rifles, it is (confirmed by LSI) a Howa 1500 action and while alien to ME, much is said online about successful builds on this action and I'm looking at rifles to choose one for a wildcat rebarreling.
I do have to chuckle about the "Webley and Scott" branding...
I'm going to be altering the cases. While chambers are often different, fired cases will give me a better idea of what I want is all.
Lots wont understand (or maybe not agree) but it's simply what I'm looking for.
If such doesn't show up in a month or two I'll just buy new and go from there...
Just curious, but ALL primers, regardless of brand show firing pin contacts similar to those in the photo?
I may have missed it but I didn't see a primer manufacturer listed in the info but am assuming they are mag ones but from whom?
For my own notes for when looking at my own loads I'm...
Thanks to all. After shooting my short 350Jr wildcat, I got first hand experience with the 35 bore and became a fan. The Whelen is a 100 fps or a tad more step up. Even if I do go with a wildcat, it will be a 35 bore.
Sorry about the "9.2x62" in the title. Proof reading is not my forte' LOL...
Pardon my ignorance but looking at some bigger bore rounds for a future buy and/or working on another (not needed but wanted) wildcat in a bigger bore......I notice what seems to be a discrepancy.
Maybe it just looks like a discrepancy to me?
Much is posted around the web about "being careful...
Gawd I love this type of a post! (y)
Ask 10 enthusiasts the same question and you'll get 11 answers. :) and there won't be a "wrong" one in the bunch!
I'm a throw-back to the days when the bullet performance choices we have now just flat did not exist.
Robert Ruark and I would have gotten...
Nope........for the few who recall my few posts, I didn't die.....or worse, lose interest. j/k
The gang nailed it. Satisfaction. Starting at the tender age of 16 (much to my single mother's chagrin) I started loading for my spanking new Sako Vixen "heavy barrel" (that really isnt all that...
Since in Indiana, I've not had a need to shoot more than 150 yards but if you do a search on my posts you'll find my report on my 350Jr wildcat that is a 358 Win capacity twin, but a legal wildcat here in Hoosier land.
There are photos in there of a Speer I dug out (the only one ever recovered...
It's probably a GOOD thing they didn't try to offer some kind of explanation, IMO.
With the list allowing rounds from old time , "slow" projectiles (that work just fine) to some of the whiz bang super screamers........what could it be?
IMO it was just a "grab in the hat" for those sponsoring...
