I would gladly post some, but I've tried before without success. I'm limited to my phone, as I don't have a computer here. Is it even possible to post pics from a phone?
This bullet performed about like I expected. Retained weight after being shot into milk jugs at 20 yards is 130.6 grains. Expansion is wide and deep, with a good bit of the lead core still attached to the remaining shank/base. The bullet's muzzle velocity should have been right around 3000...
Being one of the ballistic tips rumored to have tougher construction, I had high hopes for this bullet. It didn't disappoint. It was found in the bottom of its 6th milk jug. There was a dent/small cut in the back of that 6th jug. Muzzle velocity should have been a shade over 2700 fps...
This bullet retained 128.6 grains, with all of its front lead core gone, and leaked out the right side of its 6th milk jug. It was found laying on top of the snow right next to that final jug. Range was 20 yards. Muzzle velocity should have been very near 3000 fps. The shot was caught on...
Fired at 3300 fps from a Rem Mag, a 140 tsx slipped out the top/side of its 6th milk jug after shedding all of its petals and was found in the snow about 10 yards beyond. Two of the petals and part of a third were lodged in a couple of the jugs that had been previously located in what I can...
I just finished my first session of milk jug blasting. I knew I'd probably have a couple jugs left over, and this is where I used them. Surprisingly enough, this little bullet, launched at 3400ish fps, took out all of my last 3 jugs at 20 yards. Flakes of the jacket and a couple pieces of lead...
I know I've seen it posted before, I believe by Guy, where a member has made suggestions on how to set up milk jugs to enhance the likelihood of recovering bullets. Also, I think it might be nice to suggest a standard distance for comparison. It seems like 20-30 yards is most common.
Is there...
Good luck! Seating depth adjustments didn't matter much for my rifle, but hopefully you have some success.
If you don't find a load you're totally happy with, RL17 will do 3,000 fps in my rifle with 48.5 grains and a 140 berger. I didn't venture higher, but that showed no pressure signs. And...
John, my 7-08 did pretty much the exact same thing. I even used the same seating depth. Fwiw, 48 grains shot the same and a little closer to 2900 fps. I think 48.2 or so was where I hit pressure signs.
I would have used that load, except my rifle prefers the 162 a-max at about 2700.
My old 7rm did 3050-3070 with 72 grains and a 162 a-max. I wouldn't feel comfortable running them much faster.
Also, the 168 ablr's were, I think, 40ish fps slower than 162's with the same powder charges in my 7-08. Not sure if that's useful info to you or not...
I ordered 100 of the 210's. They're the first bullet I can seat to the lands and fit in my magazine. They kiss at 3.398", so I loaded up a string with H4350 at 3.380". Hoping that demon slut rifle finally comes alive...
