Based on its getting back up after ten minutes, the projectile(s) clipped the spine. I presume the stand is elevated, so that shots would be at a downward angle. It would be easy enough to clip one of the spinal processes. George

How exactly did the bullet fail? The front core of any unbonded partitioned bullet is designed to expand rapidly and often gets wiped away. It is the rear core that punches through (usually). Did you witness the shot and can confirm the shot presentation as related here? If the deer was...

That's the plan. As I explained when I was there, I didn't believe that subsonics in the .300 BLK would be much use on goats, due to their rainbow trajectory and the high winds that are (seemingly) constant there. The .308 Win. is a whole other story, even in a goofy-looking rifle. :mrgreen...

Your operating system probably came with a photo viewing application/program (Windows' Photo Gallery, for example). You can rotate the photo with that. George
