Best crown on a hunting rifle barrel?

I've used each of the crowns listed. I can't say that one is "better" than the others. I normally request recessed on most of my newer rifles as I believe it is less likely to be dinged while hunting. All the rifles I've witnessed with problems in the crown had eleven degree crowns, but it was the fault of quality control and not the fault of the design.

I like recessed crowns the best as well, but I have and use all three. As long as they are done properly and not dinged up they all work the same IMO. I haven't seen where one makes for a more accurate rifle over the others.

There was an article in one of the gun rags where they took a brand new rifle can't remember the brand or caliber but they purposely dinged up the crown starting from the outer edges and worked into the muzzle to see how it would affect accuracy. They used a chisel or punch to ding the muzzle. There was no affect until they got right next to the bore so as long as the bore isn't affected, out of round or burred the dings on the outer edges are no big deal. At least that is what they found in their test.

I like a concave crown on a hunting rifle. It protects the crown by recessing it, but also looks attractive

I've built guns with them all and I can't tell a difference in accuracy. Typically I don't do recessed crowns because I put muzzle brakes on everything. If I didn't do brakes I would do a recessed 90 degree or recessed 11 degree crown.
