You're killing me with your beautiful rifle and excellent targets. This would be a very good day at the range for me. Please share your future targets and especially those at longer ranges.
I've been thinking about a bolt .308 and your post really got my interest up.
I thank for sharing, but...
When I experience a different outcome from the same load at a later date I generally assign it to "a bad day at the range" which means I am troubled by my personal inconsistency. (When I can I blame it on the wind, but my friend and coach rarely lets me get away with it :x )
I believe Wyo7200...
Thanks for the details and pictures pods8. Exceptional shooting and wind calling in my book as I am still rather new to this aspect of long range shooting. The Nosler in .280AI I am working with also likes the 0.010 jump. In fact most of my rifles do unless shooting Berger's.
Congratulations
Sometimes powder changes as it ages. I would pull apart all these loads, use the powder for fertilizer and repurpose the bullets.
This even happens to factory ammunition. I had some Federal premium .243 Barnes 85gr that worked fine when I purchased it, but blew primers about 7 years later...
So good for you. Another reason for synthetic stocks! The first rifle I loaned out was dropped in a creek. It still bears the scars on the once nice wood stock, but the guy who dropped it is still my best friend.
Congratulations
Great thread. I am learning stuff from this group all the time.
Lynn, please provide the e-mail address for DuaneVB at ATK and I'll send him a note per your suggestion.
What does "full caliber" mean in the presentations you provided links to?
For those looking for 168 ABLR. Bruno' had two...
What experience does anyone have with using Berger's 77 grain OTM Tactical .224 for hunting small to medium sized game? This bullet is quite accurate in the T/C ProHunter .222 Rem Mag AI I have put together for Javalina hunting, but I am concerned that this tactical load is not appropriate for...
Thank you for sharing Ridgerunner665. What change did this create in point of impact?
Temperature testing is something I need to do more of as during some hunts the temperature can vary 40 degrees during the day here in AZ.
My experience is the same as Guy's. Every time I have tried prone all I see is grass. Packs are OK, but not very good on reverse slopes. When I carry my spotting scope I use the tripod as it has a provision to steady a rifle. When I leave the spotting scope behind, I use sticks from sitting...
Yes, you are correct, the current model designation is FX-3 6x with the 42mm objective. I think Leuplold changed the name of their fixed power scope line awhile back and mine is the older one.
I liked the handiness of the fixed power scope so much on the .444 I put a 4x on my .222 Mag AI...
Hi Wisconsinteacher, Yes, that will work. What rifle are you using with what kind of groups?
The XLR I have does best with the 265 FTX it was designed for; 1 moa and devastating. Took a Bull Elk on the trot at 250 yards. Mine carries a Leupold FX-6 and it is a right handy rifle.
My hand...
Thank you for the complement on the ram in my Avatar. This Dall Sheep was taken in '08 on my one and only AK hunt. Definitely legal, but not book quality. I Passed on smaller stuff, saw MUCH bigger stuff we could never retrieve. Had the time of my life. Got lost, spent the night out on my...
The first Elk we harvested was hoisted into the back of my tuck using a come along off the roll bar and a plywood ramp. It worked, but wasn't pretty. Cutting/boning them on the ground has worked much better, but as I get older keeling for a time isn't so much fun.
Please keep us knee...
Nice shooting M7025-06,
What rifle were these shots fired from and is this a straight .280 Rem or AI?
I am not familiar with H-H100v but that is a killer almost 0.33 moa group isn't it?
140 AB's have done well for me, but I can't find anymore and only have 5 left. I do have some 140 ABLR's...
For my range trip today my goal was to finalize selection of a bullet/load combination to start working up DOPE for silhouette loads. The contestants were 160 gr Sierra Game Kings vs. 140 gr Nosler BT's as these have shown promise in earlier trips to determine optimum seating depth and charge...
Really good suggestion. Before you send this rifle in take it to the range and try Jake's recommendation. I do exactly what Jake does and have mounted many scopes on my rifles and friend's rifles with no bore sight or other tools and easily got the scope set up this way.
The one time I tried...
The Kuiu's look like a lot of pack for their weight. Don't overlook Crooked Horn. Their biggest pack is "only" 4300 ci and I have not used it, but they are bound to be tough and waterproof from my experience with their day packs.
I use their Trailblazer II day pack now as I don't backpack...
If you like the BAR, take a look at the FNAR. This is a "tactical BAR" with a detachable magazine and a pistol grip stock adjustable for LOP, cant and cheek rest. I have achieved good sub MOA accuracy with mine. It is only available in .308 (7.62x51), but what is wrong with that...
