...well this morning actually.
Ran 3 more ladder tests this morning with the 280. The first set was with H-4831sc pushing a 140 gr. AB which showed zero promise. My 12 gauge patterns better. I'm officially done with this powder (at least for the 280).
**DISCLAIMER: this load is over max per Nosler #7...work up to carefully**
The 2nd set was IMR-4831 (55.5 gr. - 57.9 gr.) behind a 140 gr AB, worked up in 0.3 gr. increments. No pressure signs showed up until 57.9 gr (55K psi per QL when the velocities are matched up) where the bolt lift was a tad stiff, so I'm calling 57.6 gr as max for this rifle. Looks like I've got a node between 57.0 & 57.6 gr. (F, G, & H). The 3 measured 2.161'' @ 300 meters....velocity is in the mid-high 2900's. I'll double check this charge range next time out.
The 3rd set was H-H100v (52.0 - 55.5 gr) pushing a 140 gr AB, worked up in 0.5 gr increments. I bought a pound of this powder on a whim and it looks like I might have a winner. I pulled some load data off of IMR's website (50-54C gr & 140 gr Partition / not sure how IMR is getting a compressed load at 54 gr...I can hear powder rattling around the case even at 55.5 gr.) QL is telling me 55 gr is running about 62K psi when I match up the velocities, so I'm calling this max for this rifle even though I didn't see any pressure signs. Looks like I've got a node at 53-54 gr (C, D, & E), with velocities from 2900-2970 fps, that measured 1.049'' @ 300 meters.
I ended up grabbing a pound of IMR-4451, when I bought the H100v, that's next up for testing with some 140 gr AB's and 139 Hornady IL-BT's.
