Already underway. 300 reps yesterday after taking photos, another 100 today.
It's improved somewhat, but still not as smooth as any of my other rifles.

Thanks, guys!
It is .308 Win., and has an 18" barrel (not 16.5" like the blued chrome moly versions).
The color is more pleasing than the smartphone photos show, but my good camera was not charged up.
I'm going to shoot it as is first to make certain there is nothing horribly wrong with it...
when I bought another Ruger centerfire, let alone what I consider the ugliest rifle they've ever made.
Overall, the external finish is nothing to brag about. For a rifle that lists for $1100, the metal is fairly rough.
The bolt raceways need smoothing out.
The checkering is fairly sharp...
Based on its getting back up after ten minutes, the projectile(s) clipped the spine.
I presume the stand is elevated, so that shots would be at a downward angle. It would be easy enough to clip one of the spinal processes.

How exactly did the bullet fail?
The front core of any unbonded partitioned bullet is designed to expand rapidly and often gets wiped away. It is the rear core that punches through (usually).
Did you witness the shot and can confirm the shot presentation as related here? If the deer was...
That's the plan. As I explained when I was there, I didn't believe that subsonics in the .300 BLK would be much use on goats, due to their rainbow trajectory and the high winds that are (seemingly) constant there.
The .308 Win. is a whole other story, even in a goofy-looking rifle. :mrgreen...
EFR 4x? As in extended focus range? I though that was only on rimfire/airgun scopes. Or do you mean IER (Scout) or EER (handgun)?
Not to hijack Fotis' thread, for plinking, I was planning on a Trijicon Dual-Illuminated RMR in a QD mount on the rail or an Aimpoint PRO with a flip-over 3x...
Saved for posterity!
How many times did you tell me that the .30-06 (one of God's Three Chosen Cartridges) was BORING? It's a sign of the Apocalypse, I tell you!

I guess, in yet another sign of the pending Apocalypse, I should buy one of these FUGLY guns...
Your operating system probably came with a photo viewing application/program (Windows' Photo Gallery, for example). You can rotate the photo with that.
