My family and freinds have taken elk with my 257 Roberts, 270Win, 7Mag and a 300 Winmag. There is no doubt in my mind that the 300Winmag with a 180gn Accu-bond is the best elk killer in my stable.
Thank you everybody, the split moment the trail cam caught is the reason I enjoy the out of doors.
Mother nature will always provide something new and exciting. I learn something everytime I go out there.
Thank you all.
If you look toward the upper left of the picture, you will see a white dot. To the left of the spot, you will see me sitting in the rocks and boulders.
I thought that the noise I was hearing were turkeys moving to their roost trees. Imagine my surprise when the young lady walked by me at a...
Gentlemen,
I really appreciate the help. To be honest, I am a scaredy cat when it comes to working outside the published reloading data.
After reading the replies, I have a grasp on how to work up the AR-Comp safely for my 257.
Like I said, I am a scaredy cat and will work on this project...
I recently purchased a 6.5 Grendle upper for myself.
In the process of working up loads for the Grendle, I came across an Alliant powder called AR-Comp and was fully impressed with the incredible accuracy using the powder.
I would like to use AR-Comp in my beloved 257 Roberts but I can't find...
I would suggest trying IMR4227 powder for the 44 loads.
The powder provides decent velocities without the sharp bone jarring recoil that is found in commercial 44mag loads.
I have used this powder with 240 and 300gr XTPs out of a 7 1/2" Ruger Redhawk to hunt and plink pinecones and other...
I worked with a man who got himself a 475 linebaugh BFR. He brought it to the pistol range one Saturday and I walked over to watch him shoot the pistol.
There is no doubt in my mind the man had no idea what he got himself into, after shooting two factory rounds, he put the pistol away and had...
I have hunted bear and deer with my 7.5" redhawk.
I used 300grn Hornady XTPs with a maximum load of H4227.
The performance of the load was like the hand of God would just knock the deer and bear down and the animals would be DRT.
I would have no issue hunting for elk at a reasonable range with a...
Wow!
I really appreciate the posts and knowledge on this forum.
I am a lowly cabinet maker but replies like the ones here really get my interest up.
Can anyone steer me to more information?
Thanks to everybody.
I wonder why there are no forked antler type animals in Africa.
Does anybody know why? I am sure the reason would be interesting.
Maybe it is just too dangerous being without some sort of defense for the 2 or 3 months without antlers?
GeorgeS, thank you for your knowledge and reply.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I find myself watching more and more Africa based hunting programs on tv.
I would like to go to Africa sometime in my life but it won't be soon.
Now for the big question, are there any animals in Africa with a forked antler like our mule deer or whitetails?
I have looked...
Gentlemen,
I pulled the trigger far too fast on this one. My apologies.
I would like to learn about loading lead for the 30-30.
I have loaded lead for the 45acp but none for a rifle.
This is the only forum I ask reloading questions on. I don't know why, but I trust you guys.
I will do my...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
My daughter recently purchased a 1941 Winchester 94. This is the first time I didn't want Her to purchase the rifle because it looked too new and unused! The rifle proofed out to an original, lightly used 1941 Winchester 94.
Now the big questions.
Do I look for .308 or...
I found out Roger, my friend, uses a bushing type set up without an expander ball.
I am not familiar with that type of re-sizing.
Should an expander be used in conjunction with the bushing?
Should Roger use a different bushing?
The targets I have seen pre-new dies are pretty impressive.
The...
