Is a 260 AI, 6.5 Swede in modern action or another cartridge/rifle an option?? As someone mentioned trying to make your Accord a Corvette ( or something similar to that) usually has big compromises ….
In the case of a 6.5 CM and those velocities a 4-6” l her barrel probably easiest but as you...
Just in case anyone following; 25.5 grs of cfe223 did the same fps as 24 grs H4895 IN MY RIFLE.
Calling them exchangeable for all practical purposes. Big temp swings most likely show H4895 preference.
Thx
Thx Mike!! I ve went to 25 grs with no signs of pressure and 50 fps less velocity than my 24 grs of H4895 load…. Think I can go up in .3 increments and see where I get. If no pressure and velocity gets to H4895 load I ll call it a day… they ve been grouping together currently so gives me some...
Would appreciate if one of you QL gurus would run me a projection based on the following.
223 Rem
CFE223 powder
62,000 max psi (5.56 SAAMI)
75 gr Eldm
2.470” OAL
24” barrel, 9 twist
Appreciate the help!
Something to ponder is shooting a heavier, higher BC bullet at a somewhat lower velocity. Drops won t change much and it could provide some “bullet blowup protection” if needed…. Just another angle…
More than likely NOT a canister grade of powder… the ammo makers use powders not available to handliaders the majority of time. You “might” be able to find something similar burn rate wise and type; ie: ball vs kernel, etc
2935 was what my friends 6.5 PRC was running with 143 X Hornady Superformance. I d say you can do that with R26 but you re “there” pressure wise; signs or no signs.
Should be an excellent performer if it has the accuracy you desire.
BT at 3268 fps still hauling the mail!! That 3400+ fps Vld is right with a 257 Bee; I d be concerned with that one too.
Good Luck with the Prarie Goat.
78 grs R26 with 180 GK at 3125 fps. 24” barrel and very accurate.
Work your rifle up; this is a maximum/hot load in my Rem 700. (Plus AB has a longer bearing surface than GK; thus more pressure!)
I like RL17 , 26 , 33 . I'll probably be finding alternative powders . I bought Vitavuori N570 to replace RL33 . the N570 was reasonably priced for todays market .
I agree with this strategy and plan the same. Cooler heads need to prevail on this vendor “robber” mentality. There’s lots of...
Alderman, those 9 s can eat a lot of ammo if you shoot frequently.
During either the Clinton primer fiasco or something similar a long time back I bought a heavy 22 full size rifle (Ruger Varmit/synthetic stock) just for the purpose of trigger time. I also have substituted 22 pistol for same...
Good deal. Pls share your load data as you work with that 6 ARC Mini !!
So far I ve seen where the Hornady bolt gun load data seems pretty hot. Don’t know if that Mini reacts to pressure a little different than a full size bolt like the Savage or not? Thus my interest in your experiences and...
Scotty, scored one from Wayne York at OregonGunsmithing.
If your wanting one sooner than later might give him a call.
Mine scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Wayne had been waiting for some follower springs and must of just got his shipment. He sells a ton of them from what he told me.
I d guess both; which is making more (greedy)? I d guess retail but just a guess.
Overall it can be blamed on Covid ( workforce), current political environment AND scalpers…. JMO
