Try a Savage short or old intermediate action. Trigger is easy to tweak, rebarrel is easy to DIY, and for $150 you can put on a new factory take-off & aftermarket nut/recoil lug. With their floating bolt head it isn't hard to get em shooting, and while its apart you can use Brownells aerosol...

+1 If I were running a 300 Weatherby that & the 168 gr TTSX would get worked over hard; Nosler made a great call designing these for a lower minimum velocity than the Barnes & Hornady. Promising looking group there Scotty.

IMHO monos are useful when impact speeds are north of 3k; if I use them in standard cartridges I run light for caliber projectiles to get that speed (130 TTSXs in the 06 & 90 GMXs in 257 AI). You're right to go to another bullet and made a great choice, though I've never found a need for any...

90 gr Blems from MidwayUSA, Hunter, & WLRMs from 257 AI. I treated em like TTSXs; left a nice long jump to lands. That was my first time out, but haven't tried any other configurations through any other rifles.
