Well its a landslide for the Vanguard. Weight is not an issue. The rifle the Vanguard is replacing is a old M77 Ruger that is heavier then the Vanguard so that's not a problem. He is really looking for a better trigger and better shooting rifle all around.

I will obviously use these loads for my hunt at the end of this week. This Sunday I might be able to get back out there and try a few more loads. If I have time I will load a few at 65 grains, 66 grains and maybe 67 grains and see what that gives me.

I decided to start out at 63 because Nosler load manual said it was the most accurate and 3330. I have a 23" barrel so I figured the rounds would be around 3250 but was shocked to be under 2900. The Nosler load manual says 65 grains is max load. Would I be ok at 66-68 grains pressure wise?

The one place that had the best chance to have MagPro is out and said they probably will not be ordering any more powder for a couple weeks. So I guess I will pick up some Reloader 22 and give that a go.

I liked the SST's pretty well but they seemed to be a little fragile. I shot a deer at fairly close range a couple years ago that was quartering away and I clipped the shoulder and the bullet seemed to come apart. Behind the shoulder the SST is like a bomb going off but at higher velocities...

I always work my load up starting low but was just curious because I would hate to load towards max (~74 grains) according to Accurate but see too much pressure at 71 grains and be sitting with a bunch of bullets that I have to pull. I was just trying to figure out why the difference was there.

If you don't mind me asking, where have these numbers come from? I was looking at Accurate's reloading data and its saying that 130 grain bullets have a max load of 75.5 grains and my rifle has a 23" barrel. Just not sure which numbers to go by for Magpro.

I might have found a place near me that has MagPro in stock fairly regularly and if not he said when he orders more powder he will be sure to add MagPro to his list for me. If that doesn't pan out then I will get some RL19 and work up a few different loads.
