thanks for the reply. Sorry I sounded a little frustrated. last night I loaded two loads with Reloder 22. 73.5 and 75.5 based on recommendation from this site. 75.5 was noted as the most accurate. so I will give it a try. The E-Tip is a good concept and works well at 100 YDS. the...
I have given up on the E-tip 180 grain 30 caliber in a .300 Win Mag with a BOSS. The groups are like what someone else said, two in sync and the third is way off. accuracy at 200 and 300 is so bad that I have given up. the man shooting with me was shooting accubonds Kimber .325 WSM. At 300...
I don't have the equipment to test the muzzle velocity. I will shoot some again. I don't think it was the shooter - me. the partition bullets group <2" at 300 and the 150 grain Winchester factory loads were <2" at 300 YDs. thanks for the input
forgot to mention that i dug the bullets out of the limestone fines I shot them into at the range. the bullets retained 99.2% and 97.6% of their weight and peeled back very nicely.
not sure how to add a photograph of them.
Shot a few groups with the E-Tips. 73.5 Grains Re22. @ 100YDs it was awesome. 3/8" group. @ 200 YDs 3 3/8" group @ 300 YDs it widened out to 7". No wind.
I liked the 100 YD group but we are going out for Elk in two weeks and I don't like the 300 YD groups. I think maybe there is a...
I agree about the bullet seating depth. It makes a huge difference. however, if you are shooting a rifle with a clip, you are limited in how far out you can seat them. Because of the clip I cannot seat them out to the lands. I used the suggestions by the Nosler folks and found that...
I throw every load with my powder charger which is set below the amount I am looking for. then I use the trickler to drop powder in to bring it up to the load I am making. fairly easy.
I DID MANAGE TO DROP AN ELK AT 200 YDS. SHOT PLACEMENT WAS LOW ON THE LUNGS. THE BULLET WENT THROUGH AND DID WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. I DID FIND SOME BT FRAGMENTS ON THE NEAR SIDE HAIR.
THANKS.
I honestly didn't know about the accubond bullets until after I had bought a box of BT's at Bass Pro Shop. which is now the last place I will purchase reloading supplies now since their selection was really poor and the have no plans of making it better. I found out about the AB's on this...
I'm from 200 miles east of Pittsburgh. Still Steeler country. living in the Appalachian Mts. shooting deer, groundhogs and turkey. Headed to colorado next week to chase the elk to Powerstroke.
I just made the switch to BT's from Partitions. 180 gr. Partitions just weren't holding groups in my .300 WM Browning A-Bolt with a BOSS. The 165 gr partitions drive tacks in my Rem 700 BDL .300 WM. so that is fine. I switched to BT's today and shot some wonderful groups including this 3/8"...
