I've got a pretty good shooting savage that will easily do around 3000 fps with 74.5 of re22 under a 180 AB.

Today I played with a start load of 70.5 with virgin brass under the 180 etip. It did 2890 fps so they definately have a bit more pressure than most other 180's. Throwing out my first fowling shot I had 4 shots doing a 2" rectangle at 200 yds. I might have seen some signs of keyholing but am not sure and will try more later.....I could easily have been mistaken as my paper was pretty damp. Looks like I should be able to work up some but doubt I'd get much over 72-73 grains before maxing or near max.
From what I saw today I will start all e-tip loads about 4% under other loads of the same wt.

Please advise with all results. We need all trial data

Shot a few groups with the E-Tips. 73.5 Grains Re22. @ 100YDs it was awesome. 3/8" group. @ 200 YDs 3 3/8" group @ 300 YDs it widened out to 7". No wind.
I liked the 100 YD group but we are going out for Elk in two weeks and I don't like the 300 YD groups. I think maybe there is a stability problem at longer ranges. Not sure what the issue is here, maybe someone can comment.

Shooting a Browning A-Bolt with BOSS. With 180 Nosler Partitions I can get groups under 2" @ 300 YDs.[/img]

forgot to mention that i dug the bullets out of the limestone fines I shot them into at the range. the bullets retained 99.2% and 97.6% of their weight and peeled back very nicely.
not sure how to add a photograph of them.

Usually for me when I shoot a long bullet I get marginal groups at 100 like say 1.5"-1.75" but as they go out to longer distance they stabilize and I get like 3" at 300. I'd try em again at different ranges and if they get worse at longer range it would seem to be a problem with them stabilizing?

I don't have the equipment to test the muzzle velocity. I will shoot some again. I don't think it was the shooter - me. the Partition bullets group <2" at 300 and the 150 grain Winchester factory loads were <2" at 300 YDs. thanks for the input

i was out sighting in at 300yds yesterday, with the 20" vangard 300 win mag. CCI250 primers, ww brass, 80gr h1000, 180gr Etip, OAL of 3.490" , cronograph 2890fps. a light wind from side 5mph. i got 3-3 shot groups i was impressed with, 2.10", 1.90", 1.65". i was shooting off a varmiters rifle rest with sand bags on the legs, on a folding table. from the beginning this rifle was a lousy shooting piece of junk. i can no longer say that. off a real bench it may shoot some very impressive groups. i'm packing it for a high desert elk hunt this year with the Etips and was at shooters pro shop today buying another 50 bag of 180gr Etips with much pleasure at an excellent product. i retrieved a bullet out of the hillside i was shooting into. perfect mushroom and near 100% weight retention.

yes 20" best thing i ever did to fix a bad shooting barrel. them ruger people are smart.

180gr Etip retrieved from pine duff/pumice backstop 300yds through 5/8 plywood for target. weight 175.4gr .52" at widest point of petals. muzzle velocity of 2890fps impact velocity about 2350fps. my cheat sheet says, -8" at 400, -12" at 450, -18" at 500, -24 at 550. my estimation is at 550yds it is dropping below 2000fps and 1600ft lb of energy. the last time i hunted elk with the tag i have this year, i passed on a shot at a nice 6x6 bull. rangefinder said 535yds. this year i'll be much better prepared. if i get a simular shot, and i can get a good rest i'm throwing COPPER
