I've used H-4831 with 150 nosler's and speer's for over 20 years. 57.5 grs. with either bullet. I get about 2800 f.p.s. I've only shot deer with that load, but it really knocks 'em flat. I recently switched to R-L 22. I get just over 2900 f.p.s. with those bullets, and it groups just as well.
If it were me I'd get a model 7 CDL in 350 mag. A friend has a 35 whelen and shoots 225 gr. sierra's out of it. Kills deer like crazy. I have no idea about the load. I know another fella that uses 250 gr. speer's out of his 350 mag. He says it kills deer dead right now, and he also uses it on...
Would any of you guys be able to help me on a trjectory question. I have a 140 accubond 270 cal. at 3000 f.p.s. sighted in 2.5 inches high at 100 yards. What is my bullet drop out to 600 yards. Any help would be appreciated.
I just started using reloader -22 in my 270 and that is the powder I'm sticking with. I got over 2900 f.p.s. with 150 partitions out of my 22 inch 700 remington with no pressure signs. Also, it shoots as well as my old load of 57 grs. of H-4831, only faster.
I know a bigger bullet for bigger game would be wise, I was just wondering how a 140 partition would work. My rifle seems to prefer the 140 gr. weight bullets.
Have any of you fellas used a 140 partition in a 7 mag. I have been meaning to try them in my 7 saum and just ordered some from midway. I'll probably push them between 3150 and 3200 f.p.s. I'm sure they will work on deer, I was wondering how they will work on bigger game.
I shot a deer last year with a 140 accubond out of a 7mm saum going about 3100 f.p.s. I hit the humerus on the left side, the bullet then went through the lungs and exited behind the right shoulder. There was little bloodshot meat, and the exit wound was about as big as a man's finger. I don't...
I get sub- moa with the 150 partition with both h-4831 and rl-22 and also the 150 speer hot cor. I just like to experiment and thought I might try some 140's. I'll probably end up trying both, the partition and accubond. The accubond 140 is the most accurate bullet to date in my 7mm saum.
