This is such a good bullet for elk! Going out there at 2750-2800fps it is such a good killer kind of reminiscent of the 7mm Mauser but with more effective range. I am planning to load it in front of 54 grains of H4831SC for 2750 in my 22" barreled model 70 and kill me an elk or two as we have LOP Damage tags. No they arent for sale, we dont believe in selling public game for our own profit as many people do. Has anyone had any experience with this load or bullet? I also plan to load up some 150 grain sierra gamekings for deer in this same cartridge any thoughts? The 150 Partition wont hold a group in my rifle, have tried three different powders and 10 or tweleve different loads and the sierras are the best shooting.

My 270 seems to like the heavier bullets a little better. I have tried 140 gr & 150 gr, but not 160's. My most consistent loads are with around 53.0 grs of IMR4350 powder (for 140 gr ) & around 57.0 grs IMR-7828 (for 150 gr). Both these loads are at or near max, so proceed carefully. I would start at 10% below these charges and work up. I plan on loading some 160 gr bullets this summer sometime and I have decided to start @ 51.0 gr of IMR-4350 and 56.0 gr of IMR-7828. This is a little higher than one should start, but I know how my gun handles these powders.

I just started using reloader -22 in my 270 and that is the powder I'm sticking with. I got over 2900 f.p.s. with 150 partitions out of my 22 inch 700 remington with no pressure signs. Also, it shoots as well as my old load of 57 grs. of H-4831, only faster.

Have you tried the 140 gr Accubonds in your .270? I have had some spectacular groups with that bullet in my .270WSM, using Vihtavuori N-165 powder and Federal 210 primers. I have some 150 gr Partitions, but haven't loaded any of them yet. I did try some 150 gr Ballistic Tips, and my 3 shot group at 100 yards was under 2/3 of an inch with a max load of accurate Data 86 powder. Not too bad, chrono was 2917 fps.

Alliant powders have quickly gone to my "go to powder". All new load development starts out with Allient. RL 22 is awesome in my 280 AI and 338 RUM.

I use the 150g gameking in my model 700 270 win as well, it also has a 22" tube. WIth either RL-22 or H4831sc at 57.5g, it will shoot around 2950-3000fps, and groups .5 moa. I have set this particular load up with my leupold target scope and have a drop chart card dialed in out to 800 yards. THis load will consistently hit my 15" steel gong at 800 yards. I have so far experienced pretty extreme expansion from the .277" gamekings, as with all sierras I should say, however put the bullet where it needs to be and you'll have your animal. Good luck!
