    Sako High Power Mauser

Well, I've read your post about 4 times and not sure what your problem(?) is with my posting. Browning labeled rifles were made by Sako, as I mentioned, in S/A rifles for a time. This rifle, (BOTH, actually) are the much more rare Sako FN actions produced by Sako from about 1952 until 1958. The...

    Sako High Power Mauser

In the supplied pictures (in the ad), it shows the proper markings, including Sako and made in Finland, just as my Sako Mauser has. The Browning Safari Bolt you refer to was actually partially produced by Sako for Browning (S/A cartridges) using FN/Mauser clone Sako stamped barreled actions from...

    Sako High Power Mauser

It's a .270 Win, same as mine. One of the smoothest actions I've ever worked on mine made in '57 or '58. For some reason, I can't attach a picture of it.

    Sako High Power Mauser

I actually already have one of these fairly rare Sakos, from the 1950s. I decided I might treat myself to a new toy and as I began looking for anything that might suit my fancy, I sure enough came across another very similar to the one I had and figured they might make a nice set. A couple of...

    Torn between two rifles!

Is that a 4X Zeiss on the mini-mauser? Good looking set-up in a neat cartridge. The Ruger Hawkeye SS in .358 is a nice rifle too, I've had one for a couple years now. A Georgia hog and big Tn buck have fallen to it thus far. I recently purchased my 3rd Hawkeye all-weather in .35 Whelen and am...

    What followed me home

Well, I guess as they say, it's back to the drawing board for me then! I prolly should not believe everything I read in those silly gunrags, I reckon. Thanks for setting me straight (well, as straight as I get, anyway)

    What followed me home

The case capacity of the .300WSM is 72.9 and the capacity of the .300SAUM is 73.5. I have done some investigating and of the 3 factory .300SMs (WSM, SAUM & RCM) the SAUM has the greatest capacity. The ammo I use in my SAUM is from HSM and they also load for the WSM version as well. Their...

    What followed me home

Some great finds there! I especially like the SAUM find. I have both a 7 & 300SAUM and like them both. The 7 is in a factory laminate (you might be able to find one for yours) and the .300 is a 673, so is housed in laminate as well. I would like to add one of those SS .300s tho, very versatile...

9 yo son's first deer rifle... 257 Rob on '98

That's great! I like the low-power scope too. That's a great way (IMHO) to start out a new hunter. I was actually at the range myself, this morning, with my M98 in .257. I wish the both of you great success with that rifle come hunting season!

    Good deal on L/E M70 (2008)

Tough to find a NIB price that would beat this: http://www.gunsamerica.com/903651674/Gu ... IN_MAG.htm

    Finally!

Beautiful rifle! I'll be axious to hear how the first range visit goes for you. I'm hoping to throw some 285gr Interlocks and maybe even some 250gr Accubonds downrange on Monday from my 9.3 double. Thanks again for sharing the report and the pics!!

    My Moose Hunt Ended Abruptly

WOO-HOO! What a great story and thanks for sharing it! I love the .338F and I am pretty sure, it's here to stay. Of course, your saga might be one of the reasons people see that a .338 opening at the muzzle, that still recoils like an '06 has great potential for anyone looking. Thank you again...

New Deer rifle coming in tomorrow

Great rifle! I sighted in a new T3 Lite in .270 Win a couple years ago for a friend and was impressed. A good bit nicer than the Tikka 695/25-06 I'd owned, IMO. He had, I believe a 3-9x40 Nikon on top of his. You should have a great combination there, Congrats!

Browning High Power Action of .257 Roberts and Custom Stock.

Thank you both. The scope was supposed to be a "starter" scope and replaced later by a gloss 3-9x40 Leupold. I like the look of the very slightly smaller Weaver V9 3-9x38 on top so much, I've left it there. I'm embarrassed to say how long since it's been to the range, howerer. I think it will...

Thanks. I wish you good luck at the range on your next foray!

Browning High Power Action of .257 Roberts and Custom Stock.

That is certainly one beautiful rifle! Looks like the accuracy is there as well. I must admit that I am a sucker, myself, for a .257 Roberts housed in a nice Mauser action. Best of luck continuing on with final tuning of that great rifle!

Opinions on a new "Deer" rifle

I like these two other .308 Win relatives as well. Nice short rifles, all weather with two different choices for scope placement. My standard M77 Hawkeye .338F SS shot sub MOA from the first day it went to the range. To my shoulder, recoil is exactly the same as a 180gr '06 load shot from a like...

    7x57 Mauser

U.S forces were using the 30-40 Krag, seems reloading and a shorter MPBR were the problems "we" encountered... Not a thing wrong with the 7X57 as a sporting round. Performance for a reloader is on a par (better than?) with the popular 7/08. I've killed deer with two different rifles in 7x57...
