Started loading for the 10mm with Longshot and 180 grainers. Velocity has been around 1225fps with 9.5gr of longshot but have been looking at n-105 and n-350 for more fps. Anyone a suggestion on powders?

Avg for us has been 1222fps with 180gr Gold Dots out of the standard barrel G20 and 9.5gr of longshot.C.Smith":1gpijydq said:Woodycreek":1gpijydq said:I will try longshot some more with the 6.6" barrel. With 9.5 grains of Longshot in a standard length after market barrel I was getting an average of 1282 with 180 grain Gold dots, with a high of 1313 fps.
With 8.8 grains of grains of longshot and beartooth bulles I was getting 1276 fps. That was out of a standard lenght G20 barrel. Out of a G29 standard length after market barrel I was getting on average of 1264 with a 200 grain beatooth FNGC with 8.8 grains of powder.
McNett claims to have contacted a powder company about a specific blend of powder. I have chronographed some of his stuff and found it to be right around what is claimed.

As for the 200 grain bullets that was my woods load, and I did not fear much with those. They were accurate to boot. All this talk is making me want to figure out how to get another G20. It was a great pistol.

The problem I've found with 800x and Blue Dot specifically is very inconsistent charges in a progressive press. If you take the time to weigh each charge they work well in the 10mm and 40. I started using long Shot and never looked back. I'm getting better velocities with lower published pressures than either 800X or BD. You can't beat the consistent charges that powder will throw.POP":1w3xvf0k said:800x, true blue, AA9, blue dot.....
