Here is a 150 grain ballistic tip that was stopped in milk jugs. Retained weight is 67 grains from an impact velocity of around 3200 fps

It looks like that bullet held up well to a high speed impact.
That would work very well on deer and antelope.

Hard to tell from the pics: did the core separate? At that speed I would near expect it too in any case.

Would work even better farther out I reckon.

Bullet and jacket were found separated in the bottom of the third jug. There was a major dent in the back of the fourth jug. I don't think that the bullet could have dented the fourth jug any more without going inside of it.

would this work on elk if driven through the neck or ribs?

I probably wouldn't hunt specifically for elk with the 140 BT but if I had an excellent shot and knew I'd be able to slip it into the ribs I'd probably not worry it. It's too hard for me to get that perfect shot though and ABs will usually shoot just about the same.
