Hi folks
im new here and still kinda new to the world of reloading. currently i reload for 5 differnt rifle calibers.

I have been reloading 165 partions in my rem 7600 .308 win with 46gn of IMR 4350 and was getting very nice results 1' groups @ 100yards.

last night i was doing some reserch and i was looking at the 165 accubonds. and was wonder how many guys/gals use them?

the load im think of is 42.5 gn of RL 15 to see were its at. compared to my current loads

any thoughts or help would be great.

Welcome to the forum, glad you have joined us.

Sounds like you already have a solid load for your 308 Win with the 165 gr PT using IMR 4350.

The 165 gr AB is an excellent choice in your 308 Win. RL 15 and Varget are both top choices for powder. Remember to start low and work up. Give us a range report.

I use 180 AB in my 308 with a max load of RL 15 (-2 grains for my tight chamber) and its awesome on deer, this summer I set up rocks about the same size as the kill zone on a deer at over 400 yards and had no problems hitting them, the AB is a very accurate bullet. For anything lighter than that my gun likes the 4895 powders. Also might wanna try 4064, this was my go to powder in my old barrel for everything from 110gr to the 168s. Other good powder choices would be varget or Bl-c 2, lots of guys have good luck with those also, my gun likes them just not as much as the others.

thanks for the welcome

yes the load that i have is super accurate on paper i have not shot it at anything live yet.

i like to be differnet and for my 300winmag im loading the 180 partion, for my 270 im doing the 140 ballistic tip so the accubonds are the next different thing that nosler offers thats why im thinking about switching. that and the reading i was doing said that the AB tips prevet deformities in the mag.

You will be very happy with the performance of the AB.

In your 300 Win Mag, try the 180 gr AB with 75.0 grs RL 22 (work up to this load). This load has shot well under MOA in 3 different rifles and there are several others here that get the same level of accuracy.

i will keep that in mind the 180 partions im shooting in my 300 useing RL22 @ 73.5 with win mag rifle primmers. the rifle is a savage 111 and so far im getting very close to MOA

i think the last time i was out shooting it i was 1" to 1.5"

Welcome Cooker. Do not discount H4831 in your 300 Winnie.

Looks like you've got a good load for your .308, and I'm not sure you'd see any real difference on deer sized game between the Partition and the AccuBond.

I don't own one, but I like those 7600's for hunting rifles. Seems yours is a very good shooter too. I kind of like your idea of going with the AccuBond to avoid tip-damage, but I don't think the tip-damage on lead nose bullets ever caused me any problems anyway. You've got a good load, I'd be reluctant to just move away from it.

Regards, Guy

cooker300,

If the PT load you have is super accurate on paper, it will be super accurate on game. Any deformation of the exposed lead in the magazine has an insignificant effect on bullet performance and trajectory at distances of less than 450 yards. Having said that, the ABs will work very well on game. Plus, they just look neat.

I'm running 44.0gr of RE15 under the 165 AccuBond in my .308. I use Lapua cases and Fed 210 Match primers. The 165's cross the screens at 2,600 ft/sec and group into an inch at 200 yards. Oddly enough, this load shoots best when loaded to magazine length which is .125" off the rifling. Move the bullet closer to the rifling and groups open up. Go figure.

Work up to 75.0 grs RL 22. Everyone I know that uses this load shoots well under MOA.
