Yeah, I know this is a firearm oriented forum, but oh well. Anyway, I finally got to harvest a wild hog with my bow. I bought the bow last July and have been trying to get the hang of it.
I got the 50-75lb boar on Vandenberg AFB last night, about 7:15. It was a beautiful 20yd (roughly) broadside lung shot.

I tried to take a pic with me cell, but it didn't turn out. Sorry

Me and another have been quite successful in getting hogs, so we started trying to see how close we can get to them before gun shooting. I have gun shot several hogs between 50ft and 50yds. This makes the hunt that much more interesting, not to mention a great way to practice stalking skills for other/better animals.

Congratulations on your bow hunt. I'm an archery hunter as well for WT deer but I have also taken 3 turkeys.
I like the up close and personal aspects of hunting with a bow.

Absolutely Congrats on the bow kill !!! You'll get stuck on it now and hopefully continue with another species now ??
I've got a few Elk & a Coues Doe while archery hunting. Hopefully start out with a turkey in a few months, then move on to Deer and a Big-Horn tag this year I'm hoping.

Again Congrats !!

Congrats Richracer, used to bowhunt (mid seventies to mid nineties) nothing sharpens your hunting skills like bow hunting. Another fun hunt is we used to hunt Catalina and Santa Cruz islands, those were GOOD times!
