Thought I'd share some pictures from our 2009 elk hunt in Oregon. We didn't draw our any bull tags this year, so we bought general season spike tags. Our party of eight was able to harvest 3 spikes. Here's a photo of mine, and the country we were in.

I was using a Browning A-Bolt, Stainless Stalker, with a Leupold VXII 3-9X40mm. Handloads were 72.0 grains of RL 19 behind a 225 grain TSX, in .338 Winchester Magnum.

There will be some fine meat in the freezer this fall. Congratulations.

Nice looking spike you got there. That load is very close to the same load that I used this season. I didn't get to see any spikes thought. Sure works great when you do get to touch it off though!

Good deal fells. Seems you Oregon guys are getting way better results than us Wyoming guys.

Congradulations Todd, Looks like you had a succesful hunt.
Was your dad with you on this one.
We had a great hunt in murders creek but didn't score on any elk.
We had a 6 and a 5 spoted be for season opened but some other hunters decided to set up camp in the same canyon the bulls were.
Still on opening day I spoted the 6 and he was spoked by another hunter and runing down a ridge about a mile from where he was before season.
He was on track to hit an opening about 250 yards from me, but he must have went to Bull Survival 201 class cause he turned just before the opening and stayed in the timber.
I got on his tracks and tracked him for about a mile and he still had not slowed up.
We hunted hard and covered about 6 miles a day and found other bulls but the wind would change or other hunters would spoke them out.
Like I said it still was a great Hunt

He was. We had a great time. Sorry to hear that you didn't bag any Murderer's Creek monsters but it sounds like you had a great hunt. Hope all is well in Douglas County.
