Shot these january of this year, we took 3 total, mine was the smallest, it missed book by 2 inches. 356 yards, 300 win mag 180 nosler partitions, shot it 3 times, it would have died after the first shot, but it was -45 c and i didnt want it to make it to the trees. Pictures are from the morning after, not the greatest, but have you ever had to move a frozen buffalo around to try and get a good picture??? not an easy task.
The second pic is most of the 3 in the back of the truck, we were short 2 quarters.

Enjoy.

Well congratulations!

Did you get the head mounted, or a buff "robe" made? I met a fellow near Cody Wyoming who had shot a wild buff after it wandered out of Yellowstone. Wyoming has a draw for those permits. That doggone mount of his was awesome! Huge!

I'll bet all that buffalo meat tastes mighty fine.

thanks, meat is great and lots of it, i was full from deer in the fall. I am not allowed to shot anything but a trophy this year. (wife says). I had a skull mount done, i already have a shoulder mount muskox, so anther shoulder mounted monster was not going to happen. One of the guys i was hunting with, he has been on (including these) 53 buffalo kills and i think he was more excited than i was. I wanted a robe, but we killed them just before dark, had to gut them by skidoo light and head lamps. That was a 3 hour project and did i mention it was -45. So we left them and the hide was moslty froze by the morning so no robe. Oh well there is always next year.

Good looking game. Congratulations, and welcome to the forum. I didn't draw a bison this year. It is work to move them around when they aren't frozen!

Nice job and pictures. Good eating for sure and a lot of it! What would you estimate you got for meat out of each?

i think we estimated around 1200lbs off all 3... but that was an estimate... had them hanging in my buddies garage, shot them on a monday got them to town on wednesday, hide thawed out enough by friday night that we could start skinning and butchering, we had no less than 3 people working up to 6 and we finished on tuesday.... it was a lot of work..but awesome.

Nice 8) That would be a fun hunt but it looks every bit as cold as you said. Congrats on a fine trophy.

Welcome to the forum.
Seems like you guys had some fun. Great!

My .375 keeps whispering something about a buffalo hunt. I think it's a pretty smart rifle... Something I need to do!

This particular hunt is a tough one, we estimated an average of 100kms a day on snowmobile, at temps any where from -20 to -50 at night. We froze our truck, froze our propane heater, froze the chainsaw. Everything breaks and is a bigger pain in the rear end than normal. However worth it entirely. We stay in either an outfitters tent or a converted enclosed snowmobile trailer.
