I was fortunate enough to be invited to participate in this years Nikon Spot On Championships at TAC PRO in Mingus, Texas. A total of 123 shooters from all over the country were invited to compete in 3 man teams. My team mates were Brian Hogan from the NYPD and Mike Stroff, host of "Savage Outdoors". Nikon supplied all the weapons from cross bows to custom tactical/target rifles. All were equipped with various Nikon BDC scopes giving us a chance to use all 11 Spot On BDC Reticles and the Spot On ballistic software.

We shot 6 courses of fire. These are some of the weapons we shot: .22 LR AR-15's, .22 Ruger 10-22's, many different .223 AR-15's and bolt rifles, 3 different suppressed 300 Black Out AR-15's, .308 AR-10 and custom TAC PRO .308 bolt action tactical/target rifles, 300 Win Mag bolt action, 20 gauge slug gun, .308 Encore, 50 caliber muzzle loader, and Ten Point cross bows!

Over 50,000 rounds were sent down range!!

We shot the 10-22's at 200 yards and nailed the targets.

We shot .223 AR's and bolt actions from 100 yards to 500 yards.

We shot the .308 and 300 Win Mag bolt actions at 500 yards. Our team hit 14 of 15 at 500 yards using rifles we had never shot and the Spot On system.

I had never fired a cross bow and hit the 3" orange circle on a deer target at 40 yards using the Spot On ballistic information. I only fired one shot.

After all 6 courses of fire, our team placed 2nd out of 41 teams. We placed 5th overall after the final shootout on Wednesday.

It was great being teamed with Brian and Mike! Both are great guys to shoot with and hang out with.

TAC PRO is a top notch range and tactical training facility. Brian and Michelle Davison are the owners. Brian is former SAS along with many other credentials.

The final shoot off to break the tie for 1st place required the two teams to shoot a variety of targets from 100 to 500 yards. The fist team to hit all the targets won. This is the result of the winning 500 yard shot (on a 5" wide target!).

It was great to be able to try all the different Nikon BDC reticles combined with the Spot On ballistics program data. When you are shooting 100% with a 10-22 at 200 yards and 14 for 15 at 500 yards with a .308 using rifles you have never fired before, it will make you a believer!
