2025 Hunting Season

Congrats to you all on some great shooting and animals!

I shot this buck in my home state of Utah back in Oct. spotted him earlier in the morning. He popped out 700 yards away and I made my move. Closed the distance and shot him quartering away at 150 yards.

The 270 handloaded with 150 BT dropped him stone dead on impact. The bullet exited and the performance was impressive.
Nice Muley, that 270 did work, great to see!

My first animal with a muzzleloader and my brothers first ever whitetail. He clipped his bucks heart as the bullet passed through and exited. Mine broke a rib on the way in, broke the spine and broke a rib on the way out but caught caught up in the skin. 245 gr power belt bullet.
I lost the buck in the smoke and I didn’t hear the bullet impact. My nephew was watching from far away and above us-said the stalk and shot were exciting and nerve wracking. IMG_3166.jpegIMG_3174.jpegIMG_3173.jpegIMG_3164.jpegIMG_3151.jpegIMG_3172.jpeg

Every year mom, dad, and I put in for a public land draw hunt. We have been able to get drawn most years and we've all killed deer over the years. I've been a little more fortunate and killed some good bucks in my little honey hole. This year was no different. Dad passed on some small bucks, mom saw a bunch of doe but was holding out for a buck. The last day of the hunt (11/15) I shot a buck. He's a bigger body deer and was clearly an older deer. He had broke antlers and cuts all over his head and neck for fighting so he was clearly rutting hard and was an old warrior.

Glad I shot a bunch this summer and even shot out to 1047yds because that 19.6yd shot was tough. JK. But I really did drop him at 19.6yds and no tracking required with the neck shot. The 140 TGK did its job and we've got a lot of good meat for the table. We still have a fair amount of meat from last year so a lot of this will go to friends and family that want a little variety for the dinner table.

I sure am glad was there to help. They have done a lot of logging between my spot and the parking lot so an extra dragger came in nice.

The spot is loaded with Fox Squirrels so its always fun to watch them goof around and it passes the time.

Interesting old buck! I have a pair of fox squirrels around one of my stands and they are noisy SOB's. Ours are gray all over with similar facial coloring to yours though.
