Did a little bit of shooting other day with my ruger target 223 loaded with 40g vmax/28g benchmark. 10 shot group went .9" think the rifle can do better and with a higher magnification scope would help. Currently has a vari x ii 3-9 is all.

Also took my winchester model 70 classic sporter in 2506 out to try 3 loads with 100g nbt/retumbo. Had 3 rounds loaded at 60,60.5,61...60 was right around inch, 60.5 tightened up to .5", 61 tightened up a little better to a very small cloverleaf at .25"

Few more range trips will confirm the 2506 load but I'm thinking she's pretty close.

The 223/40 vmax/28g benchmark load does consistent 1/2 moa for 5 shots at 3800fps.

"tightened up a little better to a very small cloverleaf at .25"

I'd say that was some mighty fine shooting!

Sounds as if you are in the zone with your rifles. Good shooting.

Most 25-06s like near max loads the best. When you start shooting game with that 25-06 you will be astounded at the BANG FLOP results.

Oh I know all about the wrath that a 2506 brings on deer size critters. It was all I used for quite few years with a 115g NBT at 3200fps to take everything from coyotes to deer and black bears with no issues.

Right about the 2506 liking max loads. Everyone I've had and played with has done its best loaded at the top with the correct powder.

Reason I'm going with 100g nbts/retumbo is because I'm trying to use 1 powder for my bigger rifles so I can start buying it in kegs...my 7 RM and 7 RUM already have loads with retumbo as well so I'm thinking the only 2 powders I need is benchmark for my 223 and retumbo for my 2506 and 7 RM/RUM.

Haven't got chance to crono this load out of the 2506 yet but it should be around the 3400fps mark. Make short work of coyotes :)

No doubt. Sounds to me like your screen name oughta be 'winnie man' or something along those lines ;) !

A fine shootin' quarterbore like that'll spoil a man and REALLY ruin some critter's day!!

Nice work!

That 25 sure does shoot good for you.

As any proper Winchester should!

Great shooting Jorey. Sounds like having a keg of Retumbo on hand won't hurt, especially feeding those two 7's!

That 25 is right on :) hope next time you are out you can take a few photos.
At .25 I think that you have that 70 tuned right in.

Blessings,
Dan
