Thanks to ".257Ackley" I can now proceed with my .240Wea. He helped me out good to get a .240die set.
The rifle: A 9lug Weatherby Dlx with 26" inch contour #2 with factory fitted sight and Canjar trigger made in 1983.
I my book it doesn´t come any better..

Very nice rifle in a unique cartridge. Looking forward to your range results!

With the little 6mm Rem, my son and I have had excellent results with the 95 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip and the 100 gr Nosler Partition. We're running them at 3,000+ fps from the 6mm. You should be able to top that handily with the bigger case.

Thanks ya´ll.

I have not at present time access to Nosler bullets. I have some barnes TSX 80grain which I hope to push the 3500-3600ft/sec mark. I bought the rifle back in late Aug. 2012. I haven´t yet shot the dang thing..:LOL. Now it´s time. I hope my oldest son who turn 13y here this summer will use it in Africa. I absolutly love this Weatherby rifle.

A friend of mine has used the 85 gr Barnes TSX on our pronghorn antelope and also on large mule deer. He is very impressed with the results he got, using his 6mm Remington and the light/fast 85 gr TSX.

I suspect it will do very well for you and your son!

One drawback I've found to the TSX bullets, particularly in smaller caliber, high velocity rifles, is that they do tend to foul the bore more than a conventionally jacketed bullet. The pure copper bullets are softer, so this is understandable. I found that I had to clean my .25-06 more frequently to maintain accuracy when I was using the 100 gr TSX. Good bullets otherwise though.

Definitely a great cartridge. I've worked up loads in a couple with good success.

Very nice rifle and a super cartridge! Can't wait to hear how it shoots!

Nice rifle and round.
Good luck with your load development.

From left to right:

Barnes TSX 80grain. 55grain Rhino 22
Hornady A-Max 105grain 53,5grain Rhino 22
Swift Sirocco II 90grain 54grain Rhino 22
Sierra FMJ 90grain 54 grain Rhino 22

It has been many years since I have loaded such a small cartridge. I will nickname this rifle
"The Sting". I remember back in Alabama I was stung by a yellow jacket while playing in the back yard. I remembered it was very "annoying" as the yellow jacket screwed up a few hours of the day...hahaha.
Maybe the animals will feel the same way 8) .

Man,

That 240 Wby is one sexy looking round. It will be a screaming flat liner.
I bet the 90 gr AB would be a great bullet.

Looks like the die worked.... :) . Hope it shoots as well as those rounds look. That 90 grain Scirocco looks really bad a$$! Show us some targets once you get to the range.
Cheers

I think you will be pushing the 90's at close to 3600-3700 80's probably touching 3900 and 70's at 4k.

It´s all about the push..

I will as soon I have a scope for this gun, test the loads at 200 & 300 meters. I`LL post pictures for sure how it groups. I will also cronograph the velocity for each load.
I too is all fires up regarding this .240Weatherby. I just can´t wait..

Looks good, I personally would also lean to wards the sicorro for a plains game bullet. Hopefully it shoots for you. Would Lapua naturalis bullets or Norma orynx be easier for you to acquire ? As they in a 100 gr pill would work great aswell.

Rigbymauser,

What glass are you going with?
A 4.5-14 would be perfect for the 240 Wby.

Fotis is selling one here at a good price.

The 90 gr Swift would be an awesome load in the 240 Wby, talk about flat shooting. The Scirocco is a tough bullet too.
