243win............... 100 gr and IMR 4350

IMR 4350 was my go to powder in the 243 Win with 95 gr and 100 gr bullets.
Work up to 42.0grs.

As usual, JD nailed it. I loaded some 100gr Speers for a friend's rifle and stopped at 41; he saw the sub-half-inch groups and was satisfied. I never clocked it in his rifle but in my BDL I believe it was just under 2900 fps.

Not a fussy cartridge, and a very versatile powder. Should be a pretty quick load development. :grin:

42.0 gr H4350, 100 gr Speer GS, 2.730" OAL, cci 200, 2900 fps and 1"-1.25" 5 shot groups

I just ran a test this weekend with IMR-4895 and 95 gr BT went from 31-36.5 gr and they all looked good with room to increase, made a nice 4 inch pattern. Gonna be interesting to see what it will do with a few 3 shot groups but I'm think 1/2 inch is going to be possible.

I'm getting 3/4" groups with 42.0 grains of RL22, 100 grain PTs and 2.570" OAL.

Had some promising starts with 41.5 and 41.7 grains of IMR 4350 and 100 grain PTs as well.

Balistics are interesting....seriously. Not here to bash the 243 or high jack a thread....just interesting. For your consideration. My little 250-3000 Savage will take 40 gr. of 4350 and push a 100 gr. BT about 2800 fps. So similar and yet case volume would seem much smaller. And then again, the down range balistics are so much better in the 243 beyond 250 yds. Just interesting. If I had it to do again I'd probably still buy a 250. I just wish someody had gotten me addicted to the 243 first. CL

On loading for my .243's I have been able to go up to 43.0 grains of IMR 4350 with the 100 grain bullet (42.0 grains with the 100 Partition) and get excellent accuracy and just under 3000 fps velocity on the 3 rifles that I have owed which were chambered for the .243.
