25 WSSM

There is no question but that there are more opportunities to hunt now than when I was a child. Moreover, there are more interesting rifles and cartridges which are generally more available. I hope there are well-outfitted youth. I know that I really enjoy introducing young men and women to the shooting sports.

My 25 super-short just loves Reloder 17 under a 100 grain Swift Scirocco of Nosler BT.

3300 fps and 1/2" 3 shot 100 yard groups off the bench.

I think the 25 wssm is cool, but the only one I ever shot didn't feed very well in a new Browning, the 243 wssm did though in the Winchester. I don't think there is a future in either for me, but things do change.

Cariboo,

They do make a good looking cartridge. Careful, or Cloverleaf will be after that 250!

Interesting....my quarter-bore rifle will be for my kids to use to hunt, too.

I make no bones about it, though, I'll hunt with it, too! (and have!)

Chris, hope that 25 keeps shooting like that for ya. I imagine those are fun little cases to resize. ;)

Oh, and glad to have you here. Or is it "there goes the neighborhood"? ;)

It's funny that when I bought my M77 RSI in 250 Savage last year the dealer mentioned that this rifle was being bought by guys for their kids and grandchildren. I started to laugh and told him the one I was buying was for me not some kid that couldn't appreciate it! LoL

I have never shot any of the WSSM offerings but I would definatly have a go with the 25 WSSM. Those Blue tipped bullets look cool. 8)

RR,

That picture with your daughter in the back of your truck with a buck sure brings back memories.

Ominous note, Tom.

Just bustin' Chris' chops, that's all. He'll fit in just fine here. He's another refugee like myself from another forum.

Cariboo,

Sweet looking rifle. I'm a sucker for mannlicher stocks.

Cariboo-
Officially jealous of the RSI. The story of how I passed on one is to painful to re-tell. I have probably asked b-4 but whats your pet load for the 250-3000? CL

Add me to the list of people drooling over the RSI .250. If I had one of those, I'd do a black Ceracote and throw on a Leupy 2.5-8 and then just stare at it when I wasn't shooting it.

Chris, that Browning looks excellent! Looks to be a purely awesome hunting rifle for sure!

Cariboo, that RSI is a really sweet rifle. What a keeper! Scotty

...RL-17 has been working very well for me, no appreciable change in POI from 10* coyote to 90* pdawgs. Superformance was disappointing in the lighter bullet weights, but Hodgdon said that's why they hadn't publish any loads for bullets under 100grs. Since I pulled a good goat tag this year, I'm working on some 110-120gr. loads w/ RL-17 & Superformance, if the wind ever dies down enough to set up the chrony...

wildgame,

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for showing us your 25 WSSM and what it will do. Best of luck on your goat hunt this fall.

Thanks for sharing!! I like the heavier bullets myself as it will be used mostly for deer and some coyote hunting...let me know where you end up with the goat load and good luck on your hunt!!

Chris

That 25WSSM looks like a great shooter. Seems like RL17 is really working as advertised in your rifle. Hoping to hear some more about Superformance in the future. Seems like a really great powder for the WSSM's and WSM's as well as the other stubbier fat cases. What bullet are you looking at for being your heavy for the 25? Good luck, seems your rifle is plenty accurate. Scotty
