please talk me out of this...

I don't know why but I really want one of these.

I have just about every other 25 you can mention but this one really catches my eye.

You'd be much better off with a 25-06... Or if you just want something different, 257 Roberts Ackley Improved

...I'm consistently getting 100-150fps above most "book loads" w/ my .25 WSSM, using RL-17, so it's meeting or beating my .25-06 loads, using 10% less powder. Lots of fun to play w/, the 75 & 85-90gr. bullets are great for pdawgs & varmints, the 115-120gr. work good on mule deer & antelope...

Yellow dog, do you actually believe this crowd will talk you out of a rifle? Man, everyone needs a 25 WSSM! No shooter is complete without a 25 WSSM! There, don't you feel better? Seriously, of the WSSMs, this one has the most appeal to me. Though I might not build on one purpose, were one to drift near me, I would not hesitate to pick it up.

I kinda happened into one but have been impressed with this little round. Vibe only shot 100gr bullets so far but it zings them out pretty good

My former 25-06 with a 26" barrel and a full load of IMR-4831 behind a 120gn Hornady Interlock was almost as fast my 257 Wby Mag (24" barrel) with the same bullet from a full load of H-1000. Neither load was over the book, there were no pressure signs, and the 25-06 had a nice flat trajectory for a 300 yard zero.

There is nothing wrong with a 25-06 Rem.

If you think of cartridges as women, the.25 WSSM is the short fat girl, the 25-06 is the tall skinny girl, and the .257 Weatherby is the girl with curves in all the right places!

Now this makes sense!

I chuckled out loud about the fat short girl reference! some one needs to publish that.

I already have a couple of 2506. I have the Roberts. and my deer rifle is a 257 bee.

I cant seem to get it out of my head, that and the damb 325. which I bought last year

I don't need either one, nor do they fill any whole that I can see. they would just end up being safe queens.

Its kind of like when your wife makes cake and you know that you shouldn't have the 5th piece but you lay in bed thinking how good it would be, not able to sleep. You always give in and just eat the damb thing.

Well what flavor do you want Browning or Winchester since your gonna give in. Might as well just eat it. Worst that can happen is you fall in love with it and use it constantly.

That deserve a commet:

Best one I´ve heard in years....

It´s a Winner!!.

I really like the WSSM and WSM family of cartridges. I had a 223 WSSM that shot very well. I sold it to a buddy of mine that wanted it more thatn I did at the time. My 270 WSM is one of my all time favorites. Sometimes you just have to scratch the rifle itch when you get it. I'm sure if you do pick one up it will serve you well.

Well- No flies on a 257 Roberts, and the Ackleyed version of that is a great round so I'm told. :) If you got a 25-06 you've got every thing the 25WSSM will do. It just wont do it in a short action. What about a WSM? One less "S" but a whole lot more gun. 'Course if you already have a 257 Weatherby you are about there. you just burn more powder doin' it. Now I assume you have a 250-3000 Savage....everyone should have one of those. (naw I aint laughin') However, if you want unique and exceptional, superior ballistics and performance then you need a 250-3000 Savage Ackley improved. That is an exceptional round. Never tried a 25-35, or a 25-08, or a 25 Krag, or a...... :) Mind you now, Im NOT talkin you out of it. Those short action Winchester "shodows" and "Coyotes" are cool rifles. CL

The 25 WSSM can be hard on case necks - annealing is your friend since brass is hard to come by.

I'm definitely in the Weatherby camp.
