I'm planning on working up a load for my new 35 Whelen. I am thinking of trying the 250 gr. Partition. Is this bullet designed to expand well at moderate 35 Whelen velocities (2500 - 2000 fps)? I have another lighter bullet in mind for deer but would like to use something tougher on black bear, elk, and hopefully a moose someday.

Thanks, Greg

grk40x40,

The partitions are designed to open up at speeds as low as 1800 fps so you have a range of 300 yds.
I have used the 225 gr PT in my M700 Classic 35 Whelen since it was introduced around 1990-91. I have taken 17 WT Deer and 1 Blk Bear with the 225 gr PT, always had a nice exit wound. Only had 2 deer run off but the heavy blood trail was short.

Awesome all around bullet. Used it and the 225 gr BT in my 7600.

My whelen loves 250 parts. I have kill elk, Blackbear and deer with it. It knocks them down and they stay down.

My whelen is a Rem. 760 pump rechambered from 35 Rem. Have a leupold 2-7 vx2 with custom Post #2 reticle on it. It is the greatest brush. fast pointing

Not to be off the subject but there was a post awhile back where a couple of guys had to seat the 225 Ballistic Tips deeper (3.300") in the 35 Whelen for their Remington 7600's. Could you guys post your seating depths? Thanks
