I need load data for the 110 AccuBond in the .257 Roberts. I'd especially like loads for H4831 and H4350 (since I have them on hand). My .257 is on a 700 short action, so "modern" pressures are o.k. Also, please advise as to what velocities I can expect out of a 22 barrel.

Thanks.

I shoot a 700 Classic in 257 Roberts and get excellent accuracy with the folowing loads.

100 gr BT
45.0 grs IMR4350
R-P Case
Federal GM210M primer
shoots in the .5's

115 gr BT
43.0 grs IMR4350
R-P Case
Federal GM210M primer
shoots in the .6-.7"

Work up carefully!

H4831 (SC) is a great powder for the "Bob". Start around 46 grs. You'll probably want to start thinking about max at around 49 grains. With a 22" barrel I'd expect around 3020 fps or so. With my 24" barrel, like JD338 Ihave a 700 Classic", I get 3100 fps with 49 grs. of H-4831SC with a CCI 200 primer and a Winchester Case. The H-4831 load is one I've used in my "Bob" for 20 years. It shoots real good with the 115 BT. I've tried H-4350 but I don't recall the powder weights. I'll check my records and post back later. Scott, do you have one of the 700 ADL synthetics?

I don't have an ADL synthetic stock. The gun I'm getting started life as a .308 Win. Varmint Special with a checkered laminated stock (not the beavertail one on most varmint specials). I've had a .700" barrel contour barrel from Shaw put on. I plan on it being my "sit in the blind deer and hog gun".

I'm supposed to get it this week and, needless to say, I'm pretty excited about taking it for a spin!

Scott,

The 100 gr BT kills deer like lighting!
The 110 gr AB would be a great all around bullet.
Let us know how she shoots.

I shot three different three shot groups using the 110 AB with H4350. All three groups were under an inch and 45 grains gave me 2977 fps. I am definitely pleased!

I picked up a box of the 110 gr AB for my 257 Roberts to do some load development. I am going to start out with IMR4350.
My rifle is currently out on load to my buddy's wife to shoot some targets out to 400 yds. She had been shooting his 300 Win Mag 9Browning A Bolt w/ BOSS but like the recoil of the Bob much better.
I should be ready to go in a couple of weeks.

JD338,
Just FFI, I also loaded H4831 with the ABs. I loaded a max of 48 grains and got 2826 fps. Velocity was about 160 fps slower than the 45 grains of H4350 and the accuracy not as good.

Of course your rifle may be an all together different beast.

Thanks for the heads up ScottA.
I have wanted to try RL19 and RL22 but IMR4350 has to date been the only powder I have ever loaded in my 257 Bob and the accuracy of the 700 Classic has been excellent.
This is why I am going to start loading the 110 gr AB with IMR4350.
My hunch is that 43.0 grs of IMR4350 will be sub MOA and 2900 fps.
I'll let you know how she shoots in a couple of weeks.

I have a 257 Roberts in a 700 Classic. My pet load for years has been the 115 Partition and 50 grains of Reloder 22. [Start low and work up, please]This will shoot 3 shots into a ragged hole at 100 Yards, and clocks 3040 fps across the 'graph. It kills deer like lightning, and has even accounted for one elk and one moose. Not recommending it for these larger animals, just noting that it will kill them with well-placed shots and a good bullet. Very pleasant chambering to shoot as well. Regards, Eagleye

Eagleye,

Thanks for the load data, I will give it a try.
What is your COL?
My 700 Classic likes 2.950" forthe 100 gr
and 115 gr BTs.

JD338

I've used 49.5 of Reloder 22 and the 115 B.T. and get around 3050 fps. Its a real hot load and cases don't last too long with it. Thats about all the Re-22 that will fit in a Bob case. JD-my oal is also 2.950 for the 115 BT. I tried and tried to get the 110 AccuBond to group sub 1/2" in my Bob but couldn't get better that around 5/8" or so. If you get a good load let me know what it was. I tried H-4831 SC, H-414, IMR-4350, H-4350, Reloder 22, and H-4895. My gun must like the heavier bullets. I've never been able to get 100s to shoot real good either. They'd all stay in that 5/8" to 1" range. The 115s will shoot sub 1/2" and sometimes in one ragged hole.
Scott, make sure to work up these loads carefully if you are a mind to try them. These loads are very near the max and a little can cause a big problem. I'd say again to start around 46 grs with 4831 and I'd start around 45grs with the Reloder 22. My loads are all tested with Winchester +P cases and CCI-200 primers. If your using Remington, they will peak with a little less powder.
