Made it out to do a little load development today. Maybe next time I'll remember all the parts to my chronograph.....but other than forgetting a crucial part for that, I came away happy with one of the loads. Didn't make it out to the range as early as I wanted so it was already 85 degrees with a 7-10mph wind from 8-9 o'clock.
I picked up a lb of IMR 4451 and wanted to test it out along with some 140gr Berger Hybrids that I picked up. I started at 41 grains and worked up to 42 grains. As I went up in charge the groups went down in size. I was very happy with the 42 grain charge as it pretty much stacked 5 shots into a ragged hole. I'm estimating (hoping) velocity to be somewhere around 2750-2800fps. We'll see when I get some more loaded up and get the chronograph set up and verify with drop data.
I also had some loads to test with the 129 ABLR but wasn't very impressed with anything I produced with those.....going to have to do some playing with them to get them to shoot it looks like. The picture of the target below went like this....1st shot the highest left marked pull, next 3 shots all touching and final shot was low right. Should probably revisit this one as it very well could have all been the nut behind the trigger not doing his job!
