265 Hornady

Good deal. Looking forward to the range with it.. Seems like it'll be a keeper. Plus, it needs some rounds run through it. Still pretty tight.

I reload the 265FP@2230fps in my Marlin and get text book expansion each time

Strangely enough, the .444 was never pushed like the .45-70 as a multi level game round, up to and including coastal bears. It was first introduced and marketed as a plus, deer brush round with pistol bullets for whitetail and such hunting.

I guess that because there were no "structural" big game bullets on the market for the .44 caliber in modern perview at that moment, they forwarded this .44 as a deer round rather than doing the ballistic development as a pro quid: .44-70? In retrospect, they should have done the work, IMHO.
