270 130g Nosler BT powders??

Getting into reloading enjoying it so far, I have loaded my .270 Winchester 130gr in HD SP using Varget and H4350 powders. So far i like the Varget a little better. My question is I was looking at the .270 130g Nosler BT and I cant find either powder that I use listed for this bullet, I have heard that Nosler before listed the H4350 as a powder but im not seeing it on the website as a listed powder. I do see the IMR4350 listed. Can either of the powders I have(Varget or H4350) be used for the Nosler BT,if so any idea on min and max charge? Thanks

Hope that helps, you can use the min and max loads for the Ballistic tips using the Hornady SP specs, last row. Start low and work up. Watch for pressure signs.

I suggest you go and use the load data from the original manufacturer. Both the powders you list are made by ADI in Australia. The real name for Varget is AR2208 and H4350 is really AR2209. Check out there website http://www.adiworldclass.com.au/data-rifle/270-winchester as it is a really good source of information.

I have never loaded 130's in my 270win only 150's. I have also personally found that their load data can be a conservative for some calibre/powder/bullet weight combo's but or the most part is pretty spot on.

You will see loads for a range of projectiles if you want to be projectile specific though the BT isn't specifically listed, the Partition is and I would just select another cop and core bullet of the same weight to use and get my manufacturer's suggested min and max loads from.....but yes both powders are listed as adequate for the 130gn.

There is also a powder equivalent chart there as well to make you life a little easier http://www.adiworldclass.com.au/powder-equivalents/

The 270 Win is not a particularly fussy cartridge. It will readily digest quite a variety of propellants. Other propellants may be more efficient.

the one with red on MAX charges , is Hornady seventh edition .

all my books are old , I haven't bought a new book in years . I'm a quickload user , I can get the info I need from it , and been using it long enough to be comfortable with it .

the info @DrMike printed you out is from quickload . the charge weights shown would be MAX . MIN charge would be 4.0 grains lower , start at MIN and work up . DrMike provides a lot of this info , and it's good info , you just need to get used to looking at it .
 
Welcome. Good information has been given. Both the powders you have will work. At some point when you want to try there are other powders that can serve you better as Fotis stated. 270 even an older caliber still has a lot going for it. Dan.

Using similar data published isn't exact.

Be careful can't be said enough with reloading ESPECIALLY starting out. An oversight here an error there can happen easily even to experienced grizzled vets of the hobby.

Back to the similar data but not exact...

Differing powders can be similar but not exact.
Differing bullets have different bearing surfaces and will change the results and in some instances by a big margin.

Also I'd suggest if you haven't done so already to read, look at pictures ..etc......
arm yourself with as much information for signs of pressure that's too high.

In my Remington 700 270 with a 24" barrel this delivers 0.5 MOA accuracy if I do my part:
130Nosler BT57.0RL-17Fed 210Fed3.378"3234 fps3020 ft-lbs
RL-22 runs about 100 fps slower and delivers 0.75 MOA accuracy.
