I have never tried rl-22 in the 270 but Alliant claims it's great in the old classic.
I have a great load with Imr 4831 and Imr 4350 but, if I could keep the accuracy and improve the velocity why not.

Any of you guys tried rl-22 in the 270?
How did it perform?

Hows does 2950fps with a 150g Gameking, 22" bbl and .3-.7 MOA sound out of a stock .270, rem 700 bdl??

I was working with H-4831sc and RL-22 out of my .270 w/140-150g bullets. I finally settled on 150g Gameking, 57.5g of RL-22 or get this, H-4831sc, W-W case, fed 210. Only difference in the 2 powders was a little velocity and accuracy advantage going to RL-22. H-4831sc was giving me .75-1 MOA at 2900fps.

With a good 150g bullet traveling 2900-2950fps, kinda makes the .270 into a nice all around package, IMO.

That sounds real nice. I believe the only difference between my rifle and yours in the stock.
I,m shooting a rem 700 adl ls with a 22" bbl

I just finished annealing 50 rds of brass and plan on starting to load after they come out of the tumbler.
I have both H4831sc and rl-22 on the shelf ready to try.

My 270 loves R22 under a 140 gr Hornady. I get better accuracy with H4831 and 130 gr bullets but, with 140-150 gr R22 rules.

H4831 is the classic powder with the 130 gr bullets in the 270 Win. I think you will be pleased with RL 22.
What bullet are you going to use?

i recently bought a bunch, and i mean a bunch of the nosler 130gr soild base. my loads with RL22 are the only ones that give me decent accuracy. i'm getting about 3150fps and 1-1.25" groups. my rifle really likes the 140 AccuBond better.

JD338,
I was thinking 140 AB's
My rifle already shoote them well.

I am using 60grains of RL 22 and a 130 grain hornady interlock in my mossberg 270 and the average velocity was around 3160 fps and the groups with it at 200 yards was .593 inches.

Great bullet choice. Give RL 22 a try in your 270 Win.

RL 22 and H4831 are awesome in the 270 Win.

Up to 60 gr with the 130 gr slugs

up to 58 gr with the 140 gr

and drop 2 gr or so from the 140 grain for the 150 grain.

Enjoy.
