I bought a new Savage 270 WSM a few weeks ago - and finally made it out to the range today.

I loaded some Sierra 140 gr HP GameKings - using Norma Brass, IMR 4350, and Federal 215M primers. I bought some Nosler 140 gr Accubonds that I hope to hunt with - but didn't want to use them up for the initial sighting-in & barrel break-in.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how accurate this rifle is right out of the box. This is my second Savage rifle - and I really like the AccuTrigger.

Here is the last 100 yard (5) shot group of the day - I hope the Nosler ABs shoot this well!

Nice!!

Lucky you, seem to have got a decent shooting savage in 270 WSM.

The one I had didn't shoot 3 shots that good, let alone 5 shots, and I spent ohhh couple hundred bux on powder/bullets/primers to find a load that would shoot 1.25" 3 shot group. Needless to say, it didn't stay at my house for long.

Hope the 140g AB's shoot as good or better for you!!

When it comes time to load the Accubonds, I would take a serious look at Magpro for powder. I have been through a number of short mags, and only knew of a few that didn't digest Magpro with great accuracy and veocity.

The 270WSM seems to do best with:
RL-19 w/ 130gr
Magpro/RL-22 w/ 140gr
Retumbo/Magpro w/ 150gr

That is great shooting! I don't know which Savage you have, but their stainless/synthetic with the blind magazine feels like the "workin' man's Kimber" to me.

Keep working on it and post more range results. I enjoy it!

My M70 270WSM liked 61gn of RL-19, GM215M, 140AB with a COL of 2.875". It's been a while since developing this load, but I believe I got .5 MOA or better. If I remember correctly, the average FPS for this was around 3020. Yes, I could probably get more fps using a different powder, but why would I go through the hassle when I can "clover leaf" three shots with this load?

My win m70 shoots that same powder charge of 58.5gr. or IMR 4350 with the 140 AB and win brass pretty well. Not the fastest thing out there, but I have a three shot group at home on the wall that measures .468" that was shot from 300 yards . I'm going to be looking to try to find a faster load that shoots good. would love to get 3150-3200 out of her, but I got a good back up if I can't.
