Hello
First post on forum, really enjoy reading the posts with very useful information. Just wondering if anybody has recipes for Kimber MTN Ascent in 280AI using 160 Partition. Was thinking of trying IMR 7828SSC, using Fed210M primers. Thanks for any responses.

Welcome. Glad to have another 280 AI shooter.
A few posts down I believe muzz is working up a 7828 SSC load.
If you'd like some ideas, give us a barrel length and fired case H2O capacity, if you have it?
I'm not a lot of help as I've been running MRP.
Again, glad you're here.

I appreciate the reply, my Fired case capacity is 61.72 grains, barrel length 24". Weird how I was looking up some data and IMR website data states 58 grains of IMR 7828SSC for max load and Nosler load data starts at 57.5 grains of IMR 7828. IMR says you can use same load data, I'm sure there is a post regarding this and don't want to create more discussion if it has been discussed but Why the different loads one being a max load for one and the max load as a min load to start. Thanks

Welcome aboard, Big Timber. IMR7828 and IMR7828SSC have identical burn rates. No doubt someone will shortly post a QL projection. In the interim, the difference between different published loads can be accounted for by differences in chamber volume, burn rate and the slight differences in barrel diameter.

Here's one on standard case capacity and then one reduced down to yours.
We can tune these up a little if you run some across the chrono.

Welcome Big Timber, I am sure you are going to like this forum as the people here are some of the most knowledgeable on the Net and are a lot of fun as well.
I look forward to your range report and photos when you start working on that load. I have not been able to find any partitions around where I live, however I have been playing with the 150gr. ABLRs and they look to be just what the doctor order for my rifle !!
Blessings,
Dan

Sixty grains of IMR 7828 will push that 160 as fast as my 24 inch barrel, 7mm Mag pushes it. It will do the job at any range with that bullet?

BigTimber,

Welcome to the forum, glad you are here.
I have had great luck with RL22 in my 280AI with the 160 gr AB. This group went .092".

With IMR7828SSC and the 168 gr ABLR, I shot this group that went .056".
