.284 ABLR Load (.280 Rem)

Mike,

I shot and recovered two of the 7mm 150 gr ABLR's from the water jugs this afternoon. MV is 3103 fps and 100 yd impact is 2950 fps. Both bullets were recovered in the 4th jug. This one is a keeper for sure.

When the moose (or elk) steps out, they will receive a great honour, delivered by my .280.

Mike, I hope that you are going to draw blood tonight if you get the oppuritunity
Good luck my friend

Blessings,
Dan

Good luck buddy. Hope the 150 ABLR scores on a big bull winkle. Be neat to get a first rate report on heavy animals. Bet they will be great though. Accuracy looks awesome though.

DrMike i'm pretty new to the reloading game mostly handgun 40/10mm and 223 just for plinking. Both my son's and I shoot 280 rem, so I want to load for hunting. What would you say are good starting loads for this caliber? I just picked 200 ABLR 150's that's how I found this post. Thanks for any help. Mark

I bought some 150 gr, 7mm Mag ammo on SPS. They certainly look like a sleek bullet for that round. The factory Nosler loads are a little slow though (listed at 2880 fps) a couple of hundred fps slower than my usual handloads with the 150 Partition.

Mark,

I would look at the recipes provided for the Ballistic Tip and use that data for working up a load. The minimum suggested on the Nosler site will be a safe starting point, working up to the maximum. See at that point what your firing system is producing and reassess at that time. You may find that you get greater accuracy at a lower velocity (a not unusual situation). On a few occasions, higher velocities correlate to greater accuracy. If there are no pressure signs, you might carefully increase your charge incrementally, keeping a careful watch for overt signs of pressure. Feel free to ask any of the fellows posting here for insight. Most of them are great fellows (maybe a couple of cranks, but they bark more loudly than anything).

Hey, we're all pulling for ya', Jake. Go get 'em.
