I am trying to build a load for my 30-06
I am using a 165 grain BT
and IMR 4096 powder 50 grains
the shell do not eject
should I be using a faster powder?
Thanks
Jim

Might want to give IMR4350 or H4350 a go with the 165gn. That combo was made for the 30-06

I get 2850 fps and nice little clovers with that powder.

My load is
H4350 58 gns
Nosler BT 165 gn
Win brass
CCI primers

Not an extremly hot load, just found my accuracy at 58gns... nosler list 57.5 as max, but 58 does it for me. As always work up in your rifle.

When you say " do not eject" are talking a semiauto? IMR 4096? Never heard of that powder.

What do you mean by saying it does not eject?

Nothing wrong with 4064 and a 165... pretty solid track record as well.

The rifle is a Remington 7400 simi-automatic
the fired casing does not eject from the ejection port and gets stuck in the bolt half way out.
Thanks
Jim

That is a gun problem not an issue with the load. When I had a 7400 49 gr. of 4064 and a 165 gr. bullet was a very good load. I would look a a dirty chamber as the problem. A chamber brush and a good scrubbing with a powder solvent should solve this issue. If you purchased this rifle new the curved chamber brush that came with it works great.

Ok that makes sense. I've loaded for a Remington 742 and 7400 in an 06. Make sure your chamber is very clean or shells will hang up. Use the brush that came with the rifle or buy a nylon brush roughly the size on the chamber and really clean it with a good solvent and I think you'll be back in business.
