Can 300 Sav cases be made by running a 308 Win case thru a 300 Savage die and then trimming down to proper length? Or is it better to sue another case?

I suggest doing a search for savage 300 brass. It appears it can be had. From what I can read you can form it from .308 brass. Here again I seggest a search, however I like to have properly headstamped brass if I can. I have several wildcats and cannot always do this.

It should be possible, but I tried it once and had no luck feeding them. I think you're better off getting some from Midway. They aren't always available, but Win and Rem do a seasonal run of them and they usually show up by April. If you were going to try to make them, I would use a 7mm08 to decrease the likelihood that any of your ammo could accidentally be loaded in a 308 win which could be dangerous.

I would just get 300 Savage and have the proper head stamp on the brass.

Yes - probably best to get the right headstamped brass, just have a bunch of 308 brass and no 308 rifle at the moment.

Whenever I do use a different headstamped brass by reforming, I try to use nickle cases so that it stands out as something different and not normally something I reload.

Yeah, it can be done, but you will have issues to contend with... the previously mentioned improper headstamps, and more than likely your necks will be too think and will need to be turned/reamed. Who knows what capacity will be, so you might have too-high pressures if the parent brass is thicker.

Try trading it with someone. Quality .308 brass is usually in demand. If they don't have .300 sav brass, they should trade something else useful for you. If I was still shooting .308 I'd trade you.

I have made many 300 savage out of lc 308. I have not turned the necks. I'm using them in a 99 savage with no problems. Warning get ready to do some triming they will be LONG
