My AMAZING wife just bought me a 300 weatherby that I had been holding onto for years for my dads uncle. It was made in Germany and has a really light colored wood stock with a darker forend and grip cap. the grip cap also has a white dimond in the center of it. He says that he has been holding it since the 60's and as far as he know it has NEVER BEEN SHOT.

Was mondering were a guy goes to find out the year and a rough appraisal? The serial # is 43145 and is in extremely good condition, with only one very small blemish (pin head or less) on the barrel, and a few similar spots on the floor plate, you can't really notice them unless you are very up close and know what you are looking for.

Thanks guys.

.............To start, go on the Weatherby site and call their headquarters directly in Calif. Their contact # is there.

They can possibly research that serial # and tell you what year that rifle was manufactured.

Their site is down for maintainence...Call info for Calif. and ask for their headquarters which is located in Pasos Robles near San Luis Obispo.

Awesome rifle to have a German 300Wby. My 300Wby custom has a German made receiver, cangrats on the rilfe. :)

I have one from Germany and another from Japan. Couple of items:
1) Do not re-blue it....
2) i guess that the rifle is worth what you can sell it for. I bought mine about 8 years ago for $800 at a show. I thought that was a great deal at the time, and have shot several touching groups with the gun.

I thought that weatherby was in atascadero, near paso robles...
best of luck,
Hardpan

They manufacture and ship out of Atascadero but their office and showroom is in Paso Robles just East of town of Hwy 46. Talk about a toyshop for shooters
They have every model made and several custom guns on display. Some of which were under glass. I guess that was to prevent my drool from getting on them. If you can afford it they can make a custom rifle for you and fit it to you and your exact needs. How about a custom engraved magazine floor plate or grip cap in Silver with gold inlay??
It's well worth the trip if you find yourself going through the area.
Good Hunting
Elkhunt

Thats something my wife will not do buy me a gun she thinks I have to many but thats ok I'll buy my own guns

Hey guys sorry it has taken me so long to get back i was on my honeymoon!!!! little bit of advise...DON"T GO TO JAMAICA DURING HURRICANE SEASON!!! So I called Weatherby and they said it was made in 1973 and is a Mark V Deluxe.

My wife wanted to run it by me before she bought it, cause My uncle was wanting $2000 for it and said he could sell it for $3000??? I was thinking that they were worth more along the lines of $1200-$1500ish. Don't know, any body have any more input?
