I just picked up a west German mark 5 with 1-12 twist.
Was wondering how heavy a Barnes bullet will stablelise

From the Barnes website it looks like 165 TTSX or any of the TSX bullets.

That's what I was looking for, between weatherby brass and Barnes bullets it's kind of spendy
To do much expementing

Never know until you try.

There are some corner cases where the 180 won't stabilize, but, they may or may not apply to you.

I use the 180 Barnes TTSX in a 1:11 twist and a full load of IMR 7828SSC to great effect. I use the same powder of the 168, too.
