Ok all I finally picked up a friends 300 wsm to see if I could get it to shoot accurately, I'm going to clean the guts out of it first off. It looks filthy, so cleaning will be first, with the above bullets which of the following powders that I have do you think I should acheive some decent accuracy. I have R17, R19, 4831sc, h414, Magpro, Hunter, and IMR 4350. Im thinking R19 to start. Whats your thoughts?

I've had good success with each of those powders at various times in those bullet weights and in those particular bullets. I would suggest that RL19 will work well, but recent work with RL17 would indicate that it may be as good, if not better. MagPro and H414 have both yielded some excellent ballistics and velocities in the past.

thanks Doc, where whould be a starting point and ending with R17, I actaully have more of it than anything. thanks

I know it's not on your list, but I saw my best results from the .300 WSM with H4350. Hunter wasn't bad either, nor RL-22.

I did real well with H4831SC and RL19. Both of those gave good accuracy and speed in my 300.

My 300 WSM's have liked H4350 and H4831 about equal under both 180 PT and AB. Re 17 wasn't bad but 4350/4831 worked significantly better. Plus the H's are temp insensitive.
