300 WSM Synthetic Recommendations

I have been looking for a 300 WSM forever. I really want a synthetic package. I don't want a cheap or really expensive gun. What I want is a Winchester Extreme Weather but good luck finding one around here! I think a Tikka Lite is too light for this caliber. I'd take a second look a Vanguard S2 but they don't chamber 300 WSM anymore. I've recently stumbled upon Sako Tecomate's but they cannot be found either. Can anyone recommend anything comparable as far as quality and value?
Thanks

There is one here for sale by Scotty but it is not a synthetic. If I need or wanted one I would not hesitate on this rifle. check out the clasifieds on this forum and you will find the post.

Bob, you could always grab that 300WSM in the classified's, drop it in the stock of your choice, like a B&C Medalist Alaskan and be off to the races!

The Extreme Weather's can be found with a little searching around. I guess you could always look at a Montana 1999 as well. They are a semi custom, about the same price as the Extreme Weather.

Good luck with your search...

Thanks guys. Oh trust me I saw that one in the classifieds, I just am liking the idea of a synthetic/stainless package, and a fluted barrel is nice touch. Just cause I have never had a gun like that; always wood and bluing for me. How many rounds do you have through the one for sale?

Bob, I have about 50-75 rounds through it. Haven't hunted the rifle ever. It's a great rifle. Having it Cerrakoted would "weatherize" it pretty well too. I don't blame you though. We want what we want! I can't argue with that at all..

Looks like a good deal - thanks. I don't know much about that gun; I'll have to handle one locally and see what I think.

No problem, just let me know what you think. I'll get you the number and who specifically to talk to at the shop.

...I've got the .300 WSM in a T3 Lite, it isn't bad for recoil, along the line of an '06...

I love the .300WSM...

I've had a Tikka T3- very nice and the recoil wasn't bad for a light gun.
My Nosler 48 is lighter and doesn't kick bad either.

Don't forget the Kimber Montanas- the resale value is abysmal on these guns and they're often a real bargain on the used market. Just check if it feeds smoothly first. A friend of mine has one of these and it shoots lights out.

This looks like a fluted barrel just send owner a message :) nice looking rifle for the coin. !!
This I think is what ya been looking for and a couple small marks would not slow me from getting it but the price is kinda high? I would watch it close as it has a winning bid on it now but still has a couple days left on the auction !

Hogwild that is exactly what I am looking for. The conundrum is if they ever get in stock locally, that's what I'd pay brand new no handling marks! I did email him some questions, thanks for the link!

Where is local at Bob? That is a nice rifle but it should be cheaper Just for those stock issues !! Good luck !
Getting stuff local is hard for a lotta folk :) if I see something a I jump on it and cry later :) I do like fluted barrels as well !!

I'm in Montana. I could have bought this gun at the local sporting goods store for under $800 a few years back

Just do not try to find 300 WSM virgin brass as when you do they are VERY proud of it as I will just shoot factory ammo no more than I shoot mine. But it is a thumper  I say spend the cash if ya want it and not look back? What is a new price on this rifle? Tax and FFL included ? I need to spray paint some tan highlights on this rig !! 1100.00 almost from what I have seen!

I'd go handle the EW first, you may not want it. I have an EW in .270 and the B&C stock feels like a fat club. Don't get me wrong it is an nice enough stock but it's very fat in the wrist and forearm. I just replaced my EW's stock with a McMillan FWT with Edge fill, much nicer stock IMO.

If you have to have a stainless rifle I'd buy one used like this one and stock it with a quality synthetic stock from Brown Precision, High Tech, or McMillan.

Or if you don't want to buy used pick this one up and do the same. You can send it off and have the coating of your choice put on it, and can even make it look stainless.

Rings are easy to replace, I'd be more interested in the foundation to build on. I like the Classic M70 rifles a bit better than the FN models. I'd pay around $700 for that rifle but I hate reserve auctions as they usually want far more than I'm willing to pay.
