300win mag vs 325wsm help me decide

Now, Bill. You know that those fast 30s won't kill elk anymore. All those you claim to have killed just dropped dead laughing at the puny rifle you were carrying. All the gun writers say you need something big and fast or the elk will just walk away. And you know they wouldn't lie.

If a person has a 300 WM or a 300 WSM, they don't need a 325 WSM. If they want a 325 WSM, they should buy one. It is just one more excuse to shoot more.

Well said! Can't ever argue with that logic! Scotty

Scotty and DrMike
My legs are getting tired from the pulling!! I know that I am set in my ways, and it is marginal for most animals over 100 lbs, butttttttttt if it hadn't worked time, after time, after ---you get the idea I would have sold it long ago or traded it to Scotty for a Remington 25-06. Nuff said!!!

All in jest, chet. All in jest. Either cartridge is excellent in my estimate. I have both, and they are hard-hitting and accurate.

These kimbers are everything I love about model 70's plus pillar and glass bedding!!!
and the wood is a little more attractive than my 84m.
Sad part is, it'll sit in the safe for quite some time until it gets palyed with......

chet says
I bought it

Congratulations on your purchase, you have a fine rifle and will undoubtdly have many hours in the field with it. When do we see a picture?

Nice grab Chet, but we still need pictures of this rifle. Don't wanna run this great thread down into the dirt without good pictures of your new 325! I have heard alot of good things about the Kimbers! It sounds like it will be a shooter. Scotty

Whatdya think?

the scope is a 30mm tube christensen.... I know very little about this brand and wasn't planning on keeping it....
but I kinda like it!

You will most likely find that the Kimber 325WSM won't like the 180 or 200's, at least our 2 Montana's don't but when I tried 220's the world changed - My first bullet of choice was the 200 AB since the 338 AB's I had been shooting in every weight had worked so well - Had to go to the Sierra 220 SBT which the 2 Montana's shoot to 3/4" (3 & sometimes 4 shots) The recoil is very mild in my opinion and I love the Kimber's design - The chatter about .30 vs. 8mm vs. .338 vs. 7mm etc ... is largely academic - Put a good bullet where the quarry "lives" and it will die (albeit frontal diameter = weight = delivered energy) so as long as you get the penetration you need a bigger caliber "should" kill more decisively (or as John Noveske says, "you can't kill ANYTHING too dead") I love the .338 Win Mag but I must say that packing a 7 pound rifle "makes my day" - F Y I - We have an A Bolt 325 WSM that shoots the 200 AB that good and even does it with WW black box 200 AB loads (but I still like the Kimber best) Good Luck !!
