Shot the new Nosler Whitetail Country 308 Winchester 165 gr Solid Base load into the water jugs at 40 yards.
MV was 2800 fps and the bullet was recovered in jug #6. Pretty impressive results and think this bullet and load would perform quite well on elk.

I'm impressed!

2800 fps is indeed a very good velocity for the 165 from a 308 Winchester. That mushroom looks like it might just have become the deadliest in the woods... ;) I always did like Nosler's Solid Base bullets. Learned to like the 308 Winchester after I joined the Marines.

How's the accuracy Jim?

Thanks for testing that! Regards, Guy

Boy that is a sure thing hunting load right there. At an inch, I'd guess it'll have plenty of guts for as far as you'd wanna hunt elk or deer with it. 6 jugs is pretty impressive.
Ya, I'm thinking that they've got a winner with this ammo. I hope it succeeds in the marketplace!

JD338 - mind if I share your results on a couple of other hunting/shooting forums?

I’d like to see a side-by-side test next to the Partition, occupant and ballistic tip of the same velocity and weights. That bullet sure looks stout like a Partition without the Partition in the back! It looks tougher than most of Noslers other offerings but also sheds lead from the tip while doing so not keeping as wide of a mushroom. Kind of reminds me of the 180 grain 358 Speer hot core mushrooms I saw in a post years ago that were shot around 2350 fps. Basically looked about the same mushroom wise from 75 to 200 yards. I’ll be curious to see if they have any 35 Whelen offerings or at least offer a .358 version. Probably not, but you can always hope. You think with all the straight wall hype with limited caliber restrictions they would along with coming back out with the ballistic tip for it.
