Since I was finally able to get some 225gr Accubonds, and have some R19 on the bench, what are some of your loads for the 338 Win Mag? There is a big difference between the Nosler #6 of 72.5 and the Alliant/Speer Data of 78gr of powder. I would like to get as close as I can to full power loads as I can. I have a BOSS on the rifle, so I can tweak about any load to max accuracy. Does 78gr's seems out of line for a 338 Win Mag with a 225? They have it listed over 2900 with a Speer bullet. I cannot wait to try these out. I bet they will be hammers. I might have to give it a whirl on some deer this year if they work out well. Scotty

Actually, Nosler #6 shows 74gn of RL-19 as max and most accurate load/charge. I have a Browning BOSS 338WM as well, and settled on 73.gn of RL-19. Velocity is around 2784.

I'm in the same boat with ya. just making the switch from 225 TSX back to 225 AB, got a pound of RL-19 and some IMR 4350 just sitting around waiting for some bullets to get here! looking to get 2850 or better out of a 26" tube.

I was getting 2900 out of my 26" tube with a heavier charge of H4350, but my groups opened up. It's seems to like this level a little better.

I was getting an average of 2906 and five shot 1" groups with the 225 TSX with 73.5 gr of RL-19. The closer I can get to that the better. If not the BC advantage of the 225 AB at 2850 will pass what I was getting out of the TSX in a few hundred yards.

Is there any real difference between H 4350 and IMR 4350?

Just a for refrence. Looks like 2900 could be reached but will take some working up. Ultimately it will come down to how they shoot. My bullets should be here next week. I'll start getting some loads worked up and keep you guys posted. Let me know how you do and what works for you.

Thanks for the QL Jmad....This is a case where my gun and chronograph are saying something a little different. I sure wish I was getting 3000 with that load!

According to hdgdon's web page the burn rates are identical but when looking up their load data it showed a 2.5gr. difference in the max loads for the same 225gr. bullet.

I was just trying to be short, it does show that the IMR 4350 is a tad faster but H4350 is right below it on the burn chart, he had asked if there was any real difference between the two and was just trying to say that they are very close to the same.

IMR 4831 and Rel 19 both seem to be really good powders for the .338 win mag.

Actually, Nosler #6 shows 74gn of RL-19 as max and most accurate load/charge. I have a Browning BOSS 338WM as well, and settled on 73.gn of RL-19. Velocity is around 2784.[/quote]

I apologize, I looked on the load data listed on the Nosler Data web page. My manuals are still in NC and I am in Va. I will check them out. Thanks for the load. That is plenty fast enough for me. Scotty

Thanks for all of the loads guys. I am looking forward to getting my 339 loads kicked off. I cannot wait to get this rifle shooting. I have never handloaded for it, so I am looking forward to it. It will be my long range hammer (maybe for elk this year). Scotty

The .338 win is a great caliber.I want to dig my old Sako out and try some of these new bullets. The Nosler 200 grain E tip looks like a promising choice.

Heck yeah! E Tip's in 225 grainers would be an awesome combo. Plus they would have to penetrate into next week. Scotty

I am using 210 gr. Partitions. 75.6 grains of RL 19, getting half inch groups out of my .338 all day long.

Welcome to the forum, glad you found us here.
The 210 gr PT is an awesome bullet, one that penetrates much deeper that most would think. Sounds like you have a great load in your 338 Win Mag.
